I know how we all feel about the price of the ACR but if it was priced like the SCAR would you buy an ACR over the SCAR? I will make it easier and say if they were both priced at 1500 dollars which would you buy and why?

I have owned FN and prefer them for nothing more than my experience with the quality. That said, i'm no expert but I like the looks of the SCAR after having held one last month

I'd really like the ACR to succeed; but as it stands now, the SCAR has more features, is better tested, and is built by FN. At the same price, I would have to go with SCAR. If we are comparing the "enhanced" ACR to SCAR, then it gets a little harder; given the current weight and barrel issues on the ACR, it still tilts towards SCAR for me.

Deos either come in black? I vote for Neither.

The Scar has a reciprocating charging handle. I hate getting wacked by those, or have my gear get caught up in those during a run and gun comp.

The ACR comes in heavier than we were promised and with a barrel desighned by a drunk flowered shrubbery. At least they sobered up long enough to get the 6.8SPC barrell right. if it ever comes out. If I have to choose I'd pick a black 6.8 ACR over the Scar.

Neither deos anything my AR's don't..............except build up my arm strength with their extra weight.

At shot show I spent some time with both and I must say I am a much bigger fan of the ACR. That is mostly to do with my disdain for plastic on rifles. I also prefered the feel of the ACR when bringing it up to my shoulder.

I voted for the ACR solely for the benefit of the non reciprocating charging handle.

Since I haven't spent significant time firing either of these, I'll try to base my decision off some other things while still remaining as objective as possible.

The SCAR's butt-stock looks like a Stormtrooper's boot.

ACR it is.

I voted for the SCAR, mainly because it is lighter, but honestly I have no desire for either at any price. If I wanted a rifle in a similar platform it would be a Robinson Armament XCR or perhaps a POF...or just go with the original and get an AR-18(0).

:)

Are we talking the SCAR-H or SCAR-L? ACR in it's 5.56 form or other caliber? Because SCAR-H over regular ACR, but 6.8 ACR if that is available.

SCAR. Has been tested and passed military trials. Being fielded by SOCOM currently.

Though the ACR does look really appealing.

SCAR hands down at this point.
The SCAR is one of the most heavily tested rifles ever. FN made very capable and loved fighting weapons for very long time. The SCAR is probabily four-five years ahead in terms of testing and at this point is shooting bad guys in the Afghan mountains. The civilian ACR is made by Bushmaster and is quite different from the millitary Remington version. The civilian SCAR is much closer to the military version.
Maybe at some point in the future ACR will be just as good or bette deal, but right now, the Bushy version is a dud.

Really? A military rifle verses a wanna be hackjob of a rifle with military potential?

SCAR. I'd buy a SCAR at $3000 before I bought an ACR at $1500.

Reciprocating charging handle and all. Geez. Why are we even discussing this? SCAR!

SCAR-H, yes. Until the XCR-M comes out at least.

As for a light rifle, probaby the SCAR, but it's a close call.

But I voted ACR just to irritate MTMilitiaman. :p

ACR for it's ambidextrous controls going one further than the SCAR (bolt catch/release). I'm not a big fan of the bulky butt stock on the FN, reminds me of the FS2000. My plan is to get an ACR in 5.56, and a SCAR-H in .308 though. Best of both worlds.
