cameron.personal, do you happen to know when Leupold switched the position of the reticle illumination turret to the 10 o'clock position on the 1.5-5x? It's shown at the 12 o'clock position on their website. My other three illuminated Mark 4s all have the illumination turret at the 10 o'clock position. It's no big deal but I'm curious.

no offense Maverick.
No need to apologize for getting what you like...even if it is a Leupy. :p

I never have understood the 10:00 illuminator postition...is there a reason to tilt it?

Mav, your PRH is a great alternative to the NF that I mentioned and it'll definitely be on the short list .... so I'm interested in hearing all about it once you've had a chance to use it.

I think that it's in a more ergonomic position at 10 o'clock since most people are right handed and don't have to reach as far up and over the scope with their left hand to adjust the illumination. Having it at 12 o'clock would make it "ambidextrous" but I'm just wondering when Leupold made the change. Maybe the one shown on their website is the newest version.

In the 10 o'clock position it isn't in the way of checking the dial position of your elevation turret. If it was in the 12 o'clock it would block the view of the elevation turret as the shooter looked up from the ocular lens. I have never seen one in the 12 o'clock version in the flesh. I think the pic on the site is incorrect every other scope on there shows it at 10 o'clock and and our scopes are at 10.

So is the one shown on Leupold's website the old model?

I would imagine that it is...IIRC the older models were not tilted...all of the models that I have seen in the past couple of years have been as you have pictured. :)

I don't know when they made the change but it makes sense.

Remember that you can get additional turrets from Leupold for different bullet weights, I have the military weights 55, 62 & 77gr it makes it easy to be able to zero different loads and you can actually switch loads and have BDC out to 800 yards, and they are only $36 delivered from Leupold.

Thanks ... this one came with a 62gr BDC turret so I'll be ordering the other two that you mentioned.

I agree with you and Mav re the illumination turret ... thanks.

:)

We've known for some time that Burris's CS suck nards - you really roll the dice when you get one.

Woo to the hoo for La-Rue, however - sounds like a great company. :)
