I picked up my CZ-85 Combat today and immediately took it to the range to see if it was worth the wait and price. All I can say is wow, why didn't I get one sooner. The ergonomics are as good if not better than a 1911. Naturally points like it is an extension of the hand. The sights line up quickly and are easy to see and align. The Combat sights are rear adjustable for elevation and windage with nice clear markings. The Combat has an ambidexterous safety and slide release and it does not have the safety block on the firing pin. It also has a free fall mag release as it was designed for IDPA competition.
This pic shows it in comaprison to my Kimber 1911 Raptor II. It is as slim and about the same profile so it can be worn CCW with a little thought on dressing for it. The double stack mag has a capacity of 16 whick is twice of what I am used to with the 1911.
The only thing I will change right now are the grips. This gun just doesn't deserve cheap plastic grips although they do feel good when holding the gun. I have located some decently priced rosewood smooth grips on Gunbroker for under $30. I have found better looking grips made from more exotic wood but I have not been able to get in touch with seller due to a not so well made website.
The slide contacts on the inside of the rails and I have seen it said that this contributes greatly to its accuracy. I would not dispute that at all. Here is my first mag of 16 shots from 7 yards. This is one of the easiest pointing pistols I have operated, equal or better than my Raptor.
I will add some more pics of the slide detail and sight detail but my dial connection is killing me right now. Overall all I give this pistol a 10. The fit and finish is great, the ergonomics and features are good and the trigger is much better than I thought it would be. No creep, crisp clean break at aprox 5 lbs and there is an adj for over travel but I couldn't detect any now
