Hello, first post here, forgive me if its in the wrong place.

I'm looking for info on a pistol, nickel plated with walnut grips I think.
has 32 WCF Ctg on side of barrel and SAC "ALPHA"-EIBAR on the top

Made in Spain behind the trigger gaurd and 41975 on the bottom of the grip. has 456 on chamber and frame.

Can anyone tell me how old it is or any info on it?

I've tried lookin online :banghead:

well, I did find this forum with my searching so maybe it wasn't a lost cause

Welcome to THR!

A picture would definitely make things easier.

There were a lot of knockoffs of Smith and Wesson revolvers made in Spain. Many of them were based on the Military and Police hand ejector which was a popular weapon among American law enforcement for many decades. My initial guess is that it is probably something like that.

The Spanish guns ranged greatly in quality. Some were pretty good, but others were quite questionable. For safety reasons, I probably wouldn't shoot it if I were you. At the very least, I would have a gunsmith inspect it first.

There are people on this forum who are much more knowledgeable about such things than I am. One of them will probably be along shortly to give you a better answer.

I'll go take a pic,
it ain't in good shape to begin with (looks like its been chewed on by a dog lol)
my late grandfather used to buy/sell/trade guns a lot and we figure this is something he got in trade, as far as we know he never shot it and I sure ain't.

We were just curious as to info on it, how old it was etc.

here is some pics

That's about what I was picturing. It looks like a copy of a S&W Military and Police revolver.

It's definitely a pretty old piece. My semi-educated guess would be 1920s-30s manufacture.

The condition doesn't look too bad to me, considering its age. It looks like it was knocked around some, but most of the nickel plating appears to be intact. It wouldn't be very valuable, though. Probably worth $150 or so.

I would probably make it a wall-hanger if it were mine. Mounted in a shadow box, it would make for a pretty nice conversation piece.

well thats alot more then I figured it was worth! The pictures don't show the damage that well, its pretty banged up.

is there somewhere I can look up values, ages etc on guns pistols without posting threads?

The 32 WCF was/is the Winchester designation for 32-20. In 1882 Winchester produced this ctg
for small game hunting and a few yrs later
Colt chambered the SAA for this ctg, 32 is the caliber and the 20 is
the black powder chg in the original loading. There are still Colt SAA
pistols and Winchester Mod 1892 clones mfg and chambered for this ctg,
used mainly in Cowboy Action competition.
It is easy to adapt this ctg to modern day smokeless pwders, as an example
I still have some rounds which were loaded with 100gr cast lead bullets and 3.5 gr of PB powder.
I suggest you have a gunsmith go thru the pistol and if deemed in good condition find some modern day loads and enjoy.
This cal is really a pleasure to shoot.
Be safe, Fred

I have found Flitz to be great at cleaning up plated firearms. It's listed as being a metal/fiberglass cleaner and polish, and is not abrasive to either plated surfaces or blued finishes. Just take a clean cotton cloth, apply a small amount of the paste, and gently rub it over the finish. Afterwards, you can clean off the dried residue and polish with another piece of cotton cloth. It does have a slight ammonia smell to it so best do this in a ventilated area. You will be amazed at how much surface rust, dirt, grease, and tarnish the Flitz will clean off your gun. It also leaves behind a layer of surface protection against rust and tarnish. I have been using it for many years now and have always been satisfied with its perfromance.

If you have a Barnes and Noble or Borders near you, check their gun section to see if they have the Blue Book of Gun Values or anything similar. It'd be either in the Hobbies or the Sports section.

atleast a hour away on either of those stores or any book store for that matter but I'll keep that in mind for the next time I go somewhere that does, thanks!

I have the current issue of Blue Book of Gun Values, and could not find any listing of the gun based on the lettering you found on the barrel etc. I suggest you take it to a knowledgable gunsmith and get an expert opinion, They can also give you an idea of it % condition.

The next time I'm around it I'll try to get some good pics of the markings on it, I just took those above in a hurry yesterday. We got a pawn shop but I don't know of anyone I'd call a 'knowledgable gunsmith' around here.

The more I sit and played with it the smoother it worked but I'd still be afraid of shooting it. I got other stuff I can shoot when I get the urge, not gonna risk anything trying to shoot something of questionable quality.

Thanks to all who have added info here!
