Found a Ruger carbine in .40 cal - good deal for $325?

It is most definitely not a beefed up 10/22. No, a 10/22 stock will not fit it. They also made a 9mm version of it.

Assuming it's in good working order, $325 is a good price for it. Typically they were going for $100 more than that and up. It is also durable (and heavy).

Fun guns, almost wish I'd kept mine in 9mm.

The Ruger PC4 is not a beefed up 10/22. They are completely different designs. It does not share one part the designs are totally different. It is heavy for its size and the trigger is rough. The stock is tough. 325 is a good price.

Actually IIRC the Ruger CC predates the 10/22, and whilst it may not be the same (no interchangeable parts) the design is very similar. As others have said $325.00 is an excellent deal.

Not even close. 10/22 standard introduced 1964. IIRC PC9 intro 1996. They only share an appearance and the fact that both are blow back type actions. They are not the same at all.

Crap...I'm thinkin' of the Marlin Camp Carbine (hence the "CC")...my mistake.

You cannot change the stock on the Ruger carbines because the stock and mag well are one piece. Basically the only change you can make is to add a red dot or scope.

I would not pass one up for that price if it was in decent condition.

It shares the same mags as the Ruger P94 pistol in 40 cal. I have seen 11 round mags available.

Somebody mentioned the Marlin Camp Carbine. I had one in 9mm, and it was a fun gun to plink with. The extra snout got some serious mileage out of the pistol cartridges; I could shoot 4 inch groups at 100 yards with an el-cheapo scope on it.

I'm not sure about the Rugers, but the Marlins would accept S&W compatible mags. I still have a couple of 30 rounds sticks even though the carbine has long since been traded.

In any case, 325 sounds like an awfully good price to me. I'd buy it

I had one and wish I hadn't let it go. It was very reliable with all kinds of ammo, accurate, and takes any Ruger .40cal pistol mag.
They didn't make them for very long. They suffer from some of the same problems the Ruger pistols suffer from, while they are very well made and reliable, they're heavy and blocky, at a time when everyone is looking for light and high capacity.
The price you mentioned is a bargain for it. If it fits your needs, grab it.
