So I went to the gun show in Concord, NC today... and WOW! I have never seen such good deals in my life. One table had almost every glock model including the RTF models for $439. Almost EVERY gun there had an amazing price! I got light headed from all of the madness! But in the end... I decided against buying another pistol and convinced myself to buy an AR-15 from a good buddy of mine because i don't own any rifles. So i purchased a Rock River Arms A4 Carbine for $500. Not a bad deal at all for an used but in good condition rifle! Very proud of this purchase! Maybe next time the gun show comes around I'll go ahead and purchase that Ruger LCP I've been eyeing.

Great deal on your AR ! Don't get smug though , as soon as Barry loses on health care , he will start looking for another mud puddle to stomp in . The minute that anything is said about AWB or any other lame - brained idea, watch the prices go thru the roof again !

I don't think any appreciable price increases on another "gun scare" will be able to stick. Everyone who wanted one grabbed them last year, and are still gorged on that feast and digesting all those guns.

Also, with much of his 'political capital' spent, people would expect any attempt at comprehensive gun restrictions to fail. The fear last year was driven because people viewed his support and party's power as unstoppable, but that is not the prevailing view now at all.

Keep in mind, the trends don't affect all segments of the gun market. As Glock and EBR prices skyrocketed, old stal-warts like older Colt's, S&W's and lever gun prices fell. And now they are rising as others fall. If you follow prices carefully, it's like the stock market in miniature - there are "favored" and "unfavored" segments based on tastes, politics, and the economy. It's a free market in action and fascinating.

Looking forward to when all these borderline sheeple start "shucking" their unneeded evil black guns. Should become a buyers market.

If you build your own like I'm doing it is already happening. I just bought a Si-Defense lower for 70, and it looks like I'll be in a brand new rifle for about 500. Of course the real reason I'm doing it for the fun of doing it. I'm one of those geeks who goes shooting to have brass to reload, and building my own rifle was more temptation than I could stand.

Good buy. I'm still waiting for complete uppers to drop in price. What were they selling for at the NC show?

All i know is that the gun shows in socal and now in san antonio SUCK...

prices are average at best and usually high.

cheapest AR ive seen is $725 at a show. Glocks are allways $475+

Hopefully the good deals will come here. The ones I've been to have $150 mosins and the like. Not good prices at all.

So we now have a VERY VERY WELL armed country :D

It's supply and demand thing. As demand tapers off, prices should continue to fall when sellers can't find buyers willing to pay the asking price. Just look at the THR buy/sell/trade threads - if no buyer, prices keep falling until SOLD.

I never owned a 38/357 but shot friends' revolvers and have 38/357 dies. Thinking about getting a 3"-4" 357 so all the family members will learn to handle revolvers in addition to semi-autos. It may become a buyers' market.

I want a DSA Fal but I'm going to wait another 6 months and see if I can get a better deal. Prices are coming down everywhere.

I was paying .55 cents a round for 5.56 last year, now I'm paying 37.5 and its still going down.

And nothing about that makes me sad!

Funny thing was I took a rifle to the Fed Ex place to ship today. So many horror stories on the board of "I was hassled shipping my gun." The clerk looked at my box (an obvious rifle box - said "Remington" all down the side!) and the address ("Shooter xxxx) and just said - "He's an FFL, right?" I said yes, and the next thing the clerk was doing was telling me how much he was enjoying his new Saiga 12gauge as a complement to his AK. The gun "boom" does nothing but help us all as it bring in more and new shooters and owners.

bds, I've said this on the board elsewhere, but in that range, look hard at one gun - a pre-1997 S&W 686 in 4". As prices sort out and bottom out, you can find one in 4" for $400 to $450. A finer .38/.357 for the money has never been built. And I've got at least seven 2.5" to 4" .38/.357's. The 4" 686 is the hands-down, all-around champ. Of all the handguns I've ever owned, if I have the misfortune of having to be in a gunfight, I want either my 4" 686 or my Colt MkIV Combat Elite in my hand. Those aren't the ones I carry daily or keep in the car or truck, but they are the two I keep in the nightstand and carry openly when the situation arises.

I have shot many 357s friends own and the 686 did shoot nice. In fact, the guy who taught me to reload shot his 686 for matches.

Let's hope the current "shortage frenzy" dies down so we can go back to our affordable gun collecting again. :D

I'm one of those geeks who goes shooting to have brass to reload,

So now I'm a geek.:banghead: In school I always used atheletics to offset the good grades. But I have to admit to going shooting just to have some brass to reload.:banghead: It's a circle of sickness. Heck, I've even bought ammo just to not use my "emergency stash" of reloads before. I mean, it's not like I couldn't have made some more.:banghead:

ETA- Sorry for the off topic post. When I read that comment, it just made me laugh at myself for a moment. Continue on...

Guns shows around here (central Fl) are loaded with hand-guns! If that`s what your looking for(anybody) you should go home happy.

Correction, I just skimmed through Gunbroker and it looks like I can get PMC or American Eagle for .35 cents a round or a bit less.

When it drops another nickle a round I'll buy. Its fun watching a market tank from the sidelines when you have no money in it.:D

I know it can be hard to find that shape / size box at times, but next time I'd strongly recommend putting the factor box inside a plain one when shipping. Inexpensive anti-theft protection

I got a 1000 rounds of Brown Bear 7.62x39 HP (FMJ was same price, but the HP are easier on my steel plates) for $200 at yesterdays GRB gun show. "Hornady" steel cased "training" .223 ammo was about $290/1000, but I'd got some Brown Bear .223 for $230/1000 at last months show. I needed 7.62x39 more, and its too far to walk back to the car for more than one case at this show.

I put the Hornady in quotes as I don't know if the ammo is actually made by Hornady or its just they used Hornady bullets to load it.

As far as guns, I've got pretty much everything I want that's currently out, but there is some new stuff coming out I keep looking for. I almost got a SIG .22 EBR, $400 seemed a good price, but the line in front of me buying guns was too long for the amount of time I had.

Stripped lowers were $85 and up depending on the brand, with lots "buy three" discounts.

There's a 4" 686 at one of the shops I frequent for $599.:what: They just sold a nickel 3rd gen Detective Special for $599 that I thought they would have for awhile at that price. It didn't last more than a couple of days. Prices in my area are going UP.

Since it is only for family range practice and not for SD/HD or carry (we are well stocked with semi-autos), how about Ruger GP100 or Taurus 605 pricing?

Still prefer the 686.

In my neck of the woods the gun shows go something like....used Glock 19 $600, but 1 table over a new one is $450. Or...used Kel-Tec P32, $300, but 2 tables over a new one is $240.

I went to the Concord show as well. Got a pretty good deal on a LPK and a Magpul mag. Other than that, I wasnt there to buy anything just to look around. Was really crowded yesterday...they should have had the show in the other larger building.
