It's the PIG, and it's heavy. My First Sergeant made me make friends with that thing years ago, neither one of us is in the service anymore, but it's still in the arms room

I carried that one, as a MAG58. Really liked it, but I was always jealous of the M60 guys who could fire those from the shoulder. That's a no-go with the MAG.

Correctomundo on the M-60. Fine shooter and with an assault pack for ammo it is a very mobile fast shooter. I had the opportunity to play with them every day for awhile. We would give each one a belt of ammo and some basic instructions. We would slip in @ two blanks or empty rds in the string to see if they remembered how to clear and start firing again. Some just never got it--I hope they ended up using something very simple.

But see, if you had started out carrying a Browning air-cooled .30 like me, you would thought the M-60 was a featherweight.

The M-60 was not only several pounds lighter.
But it doesn't have near as many sharp edges on it to wear holes in your hide when you hump it.

It's all about your frame of reference.

Glad I only carried it a few times, but loved when it was providing covering fire for me. It inspires confidence when that huge muzzle flash is going, and lots of lead from it is raining down on your enemy.
M60.

supposedly, the navy boys have an update version , like a mod e-3, or a MK-4, supposedly lighter and more stable , but i have not seen one. Took those apart, and back together many a time in my day...put the lid parts back together wrong, and slap it down over a belt of ammo, and your gonna have a real bad day possibly.
