Notice the orange sticker on the Glenfield 60. Mint 1975 Marlin and it still had the original safety stickers on it, $80.

i have just gone down with the disease i have just brought a gsg AK47 a few days ago while i was on here i was wondering if the federal ammo is better for the gsg as i have posted on another site and thats what they recommended ;)

My best advice, and most here will agree, is to purchase a box of 50 and test them. The .22LR is one of the round that amazes me. A brand of .22LR ammunition that is accurate in my rifle, may be horridly inaccurate in yours, even if they are the same make & model of firearm. In .22LR, trial and error reins.

Hey Bob,
What do you think of the Kimber HS? I am looking to get involved with smallbore silhouette. I am looking at the kimber, Weatherby XXII, CZ American, Maybe a Winchester 320 or I am considering making a sporter out of my Winchester 52.

Anyone with any ideas about a good sporter that might be a sleeper speak up. I love bucking the norm which means shooting something other than a CZ (entry level) or Anschutz.

22 cal without a doubt one of the best shells ever conceived. Over the last 50 years I have had more than I should have had and not half as many as I wanted. In the last two years my 9yr old grandson has carried several home that hopefully will be with him for many years. 1- Henry lever 22, 2- Remington 597 (good gun just not in top ten) 3- Marlin Model 60 -about 30yrs old. One I have left and will only leave after I start pushing up daisies, my Remington model 510 Target Master. Single shot, S,L & LR, manufactured July 1939 and looks like it just came out of the box. Had a friend look at it a few weeks back guess I should have taken his offer of $400.00 but it don't eat and they don't make them anymore.

My .22 is so good i only need one gun in that caliber!
S&W M&P 15-22 for those who don't recognize it.
It will blast away with rapid fire at close ranges with the laser, Hit bulls from 30'-75' with the TRS-25 Bushnell Trophy red dot and 50'-?? with the Nikon Buckmasters 3-9x40

Of course id like to add more .22's to my collection since the eat only hay and cheap to feed.
The best thing about them is the so many types of ammo choices available for the round and since ammo is showing up in stores again i bet i have 7-8 different types of .22 ammo to shoot. From sizzling 1750fps 30gr, Primer fired 20gr, 60gr subsonic and 1500fps 40 gr HP's.

I've found a couple more in the last year or so.

1967 Colt Frontier Scout 22LR/22 Mag.

Got this one out of layaway just yesterday.

1960 Remington Nylon 66. Mowhawk brown. It's got a couple of small scratches, but other than those looks like new.

One neat thing about 22's is they're inexpensive enough that you can build a modest collection without breaking the bank. There are a lot of nice rifles and handguns that are modestly priced. And the variations in manufacturers, models, action type, and such are endless.

While I have many guns, my most expensive handgun is a .22 rimfire. When I take it to the range and shoot it, I know that it is worth every penny. This gun is a shooter and it would be a pity to just rest in the safe next to that old Python which only looks nice.

When it comes to conversion units, I like the Kurt Peters-Stahl unit on my SIG P210-4, it it is quite accurate and works reliably.

Another .22 rimfire that is of very high quality is the old Anschütz training rifle as they were used in my days in the German military; built in 11/56 with the 54 match action, it is a rifle of incredible quality!

Passat013.jpg

Had to add my Anschütz Stutzen in .22 l.r., as I just got it back from the gunsmith. I have a Hensoldt/Zeiss Diasta with an appropriate Anschütz bridge mount on it now.

I love 22's ...
A couple years before he passed Dad gave me the two we shot when I was a kid and over the last 45 years I've picked up a few for myself, a few for my kids and my grandkids ... but I don't see a problem, I can quit any time I want!

Since I posted that picture of the Nylon 66 (deleted above) I found that the barrel had a bulge in it, so I had to take that one back. The store gave me a refund, so I picked up this one instead. :D

1958, Three screw Ruger Single-Six with windage adjustable only sight. It's been converted, but that just makes it a better shooter to me. The blue is worn, the grips are rough and appear to be homemade, but it locks up tight as a drum.

I found a new addiction: turning .22s into project rifles.
My most recent .22 rifle project is a Stevens Favorite made around 1895. It had a relined barrel that wasn't quite on the barrel axis, so the sights were way off and not adjustable. It shot so low I could have filled off the whole front sight and not been able to zero it.

After several years of on-and-off fiddling with it and vowing to do something with it some day, I found a tang sight made for the Favorite, and fiddled and shimmed until I got it zeroed.

Finally, a place for the .22 addict

Not sure how many 10/22's I have owned total; but one Marlin Model 60, a couple plastic stocked remingtons, a jennings jam-O-matic, a few cheesy AR clones from years ago, A walther G22, and a Ruger .22/45 were all sold/traded off. I currently have:
3 10/22's - 1 is stock w/a sling for bunny blasting. 1 paper killer with an ungodly amount of $ dumped into it, and another pseudo-stocker from my teenage years that still sees plenty of loaner/truck/range and rabbit duty.
1 Tangfolio 1873 clone I got for $25 and rebuilt
1 1 Stoeger Luger I also got for a song and just had to put together correctly
1 Walther SP-22 that is quickly becoming a favorite
1 Taurus Model 94, 9 shot, just like an S&W and stupidly accurate.
1 Marlin 980 SS bolt action - very accurate - no idea what to do w/ it yet
Glad I found you guys - I was starting to think my rimfire fetish w as a bit... uncommon :neener:

I once believed that my interest was uncommon among shooters. I know better now. If you don't own at least 10 or working on it, you can't be a member of the club. :D :D
