Kimber Desert Warrior - Paid $1060 used. Put about 100 through it (yeah, tons I know). Will trade w/ original box, 1 mag, 50 rounds.

FOR

FNH Five Seven - used, couple of hundred through it. From a friend (trustworthy). Will come w/ original box, 3 mags, about 100 rounds. Paid $1100.

Opinions? I love 1911's but I'm not emphatuated with them.

Personally I would stick with the Kimber. I like the 57 but feel the Kimber is just a better firearm. Also just got my FNP9 back from FN and I was not impressed with the customer service they provided.

Called left two messages never was called back. Repair took a lot longer than expected and communication was horrible on FN's part. The only reason why I didn't make a stink was the gun arrived back, so I was more interested in going shooting than bitching.

Sounds like an even-steven trade to me. Do you want the Five-seveN more than you want your Kimber? If so, make the trade. I don't believe either party is getting an upper hand in this deal.

As above, it sounds like an even trade. I would keep the 1911, just because that is my preference, but to each their own.

Yeah just a slight change of scenery in an unfriendly economy ya know...

Would love to get both. I really have no more use for one than the other, honestly.

Thanks for the replys guys!

NO! I would not the Desert Warrior is a pretty Nifty 1911 the FiveSeven is neat but in 10 years I'll bet the Warrior will bring double what the Five Seven will.

FN57

An FN 57 would make an excellent raccoon gun with a laser/light combo around a watermelon patch but a .22LR would do the same for a lot less money. I see no other use for the pistol but it does have a nice WOW! factor.

I own 2 1911s and the FN FiveseveN. If ammo availability is a concern for you, stick with the 1911, otherwise choose whichever you'd like more.

Both go bang, and nobody would want to be on the business end of either.

My general rule is that if you have an accurate and reliable 1911, you ought to keep it. There's nothing like a tough 1911. :cool:

If the Kimber is reliable, I'd keep it because of the established reliability, and also the Desert Warrior is a nice 1911. Unless you really really dig the FN, in which case I say make yourself happy.

Only way I would make the trade is if I had a few 1911's and wanted the 5.7 as a novelty gun.

+1

1911 = $0.35/round, parts/mags easy to buy
FN57 = $0.50/round, parts/mags... ?

If you go shooting often the Kimber is much more affordable in the long run.

Seems to me the only real good reason for the FiveseveN is to shoot the AP ammo us serfs aren't allowed to have.

Furthermore, I agree with others that the Kimber will hold its value better (unless they reclassify the FiveseveN as an NFA item).

My thought would be, if you ever wanted to sell the FNH, you might have harder time.

Kimber on the other hand would be gone in a minute on THR buy/sell/trade. :D
