I kind of really like that. Looks almost western. ^^^ if the price is good, I may be a buyer.

Looks like there are multiple models, including a milspec 1911. I'm interested in that! Ya'll can have the modern version.

And, gotta love Ithaca's website. You would think that if you were annoucning a new line of handguns at SHOT, you'd have someone update the website to mention the fact. Maybe even take some pre-orders. But no, as of 3/13 there's no mention of the pistols. That's great for business.

The slide serrations would take some getting used to, The FLGR will turn off some people and who needs serrations on the front of the slide anyway?

But... if the price is right and the frame is good I could always throw away the slide.

Even so, there are a bunch of 1911's out there and this one may find itself a spot in the market place anyway.

How many 1911 vendors can the market support?

I don't understand why just because a gun has novak-style sights that the maker will dictate that you need front serrations too.

Ithaca could use something to really give the small fire they have lit under themselves lately some fuel. I can see them growing but they need to reach to a buyer at the right price point.

Looks good. I do not like the front slide serrations, but like the sights. Hope it is well received by the buying public.

Word is that it'll be an all American-made pistol and is expected to retail at around $1200 (although all that's preliminary and based on Errornet information).

A $1200 1911 sounds about right for a company that is selling $850 pump action shotguns.

I've heard rumors that Remington is working on a 1911. A milspec type, I was told.

I wish that Ithaca was the old Ithaca company, not just a name, and they were making a true G.I. 1911A1 again. I'd even like a Remington Rand re-make even more! (NOTE: That's the typewriter company, not Remington Arms.........)

That's funny!

I know nothing about shotguns, what's this referring to? Are pump shotguns supposed to be cheaper? If they are asking $1200 for an MIM filled cast framed gun they won't get to sell one to me. The GI model looks nice.

I agree the slide serrations = yuck. Beyond that it is hard to form any opinion without more information and a price point.

Another hat in the ring, hope the quality is there... there is a reason for the saying " a 1911 is what you show your friends, a Glock is what you show your enemies". Too many clones, so little time, so many problems with custom 1911s, milspecs seem to work at any price point IME.

HisSoldier you can get mossberg and remington pump shotguns around 250-300 and "off" brands for 100 or less so yea an 800+ shotgun is pricey

more power to them i feel the 1911 market is flooded already and noone is reinventing a 100 year old wheel unless they can make a high "QUALITY" piece for a reasonable price of around 400-600 they will not be doing anything new

everyones 1911 is in the 1000 and up range now a days that people will buy them from unknown sources to just have one in the collection
you cant touch a brand new colt for less than 800 anymore (at least not around here) and thats what most people concider the golden rule of 1911's so if you buys something cheaper your "junking out"

i love 1911s but couldnt get a 1000 dollar piece so i ended up getting a taurus and have heard alot of flak about it just because of the name on the slide

oh and as for showing my friends and enemies comment
if you get to "see" my 1911 your probably a friend if you see the muzzleblast you wont care what gun it came from

Hey I've had an Ithaca 1911 for a few years and I doubt I'm the only one! They've been around since the 40's :p

Any idea of who is making them?

About ten years ago, Ithica had a 1911 on the market. the forgings/castings were smith and wesson finished by Jerico Precision. Jerico was doing Wilson, Kimber and Ithica.

Jerico has since been bought out by Kimber. I have no idea if Jerico is still making guns for other 'labels'.
