Shooting the .50BMG

I had the opportunity to shoot a Barrett last Sunday at 300yds, (sorry we don't have a 3 mile range). The boss took it out to see how it did in really strong crosswinds gusting to 40~45mph. It didn't even phase it. Shooting it is no worse than a 12ga for the shooter, however the spotter behind tends to catch all sort of hell. It creates a very big dust storm traveling very fast smacking you in the face.
Shooting the .50BMG is fun, spotting, not so much.

That's my experience with my BOHICA 50 BMG as well. About like a 12 ga slug. a very hard shove versus being whacked.

It helps alot if the spotter can be directly behind the shooter and be as low as possible. The worst place to be is on either side of the shooter due to the tremendous muzzle blast.

Not a great pic but you can see the blast and fire clearly coming from the sides of the brake.

I saw that fire just before the dust cloud hit, and about the same instant my spotting scope decided to leave the range.
Just curious, who was in front of the muzzle you got that picture.

Hopefully just a camera on a tripod!!

This was a still pulled from a video and yes the camera was on a tripod and was remotely controlled. This is the reason for the poor quality pic.
