Champion Safes ?

Liberty and Champion have similar roots, and are probably the most similar by comparison.

They share more than similar roots as Champion was started by Jay Crosby, who along with his brother Ray, started Liberty. They sold Liberty, then started Champion.

I'm assuming you (the OP) meant to type M31 instead of M41, but for comparison, I sell the M31 for $1,075.00. You may or may not know that the Medalist Series is made in Mexico. As for a made in USA comparable, I have a Cannon which is 60 x 40 x 26 which sells for $995.00

Should you want to stay with Champion, the Trophy Series is made in the USA. The TY35 is available for $1,285.00 and has a higher fire rating than the Medalist while being slightly larger.

I looked at the Champions a good bit.
But I was only interested in the Crown and Triumph.
In the end I eliminated the Champions because I wanted a full door swing that you only get with hinges mounted on the outside of the safe.
The overall cost difference of the Crown 40 vs my Amsec BF 66x36 was the other issue.
I all fairness I did like the Crown series more than the Liberty Presidential as the quality of the door was very apparent in favor of the Crown as well as the door jamb reinforcement.

Just as an FYI, Fort Knox offers the option of external hinges on their safes. There is no charge for that option, and they also offer choices of door swing on the Defender Series on up.

Safeguy, I meant M41, it is a newer model. Your price on the Ty35 is much
better than my local dealers. I am probably gonna scratch Champion off the list and try to find something similar that is American with external hinges.

If there's one thing I've found out about Champion, sometimes customers get more info than their dealers when it comes to new models such as the M41 which still doesn't show on any of my pricing information. Same as the smaller Trophy Series being made in Mexico as that is very much news to me. Thanks for sharing that information.

If external hinges are a must have, AMSEC, Browning/Pro-Steel, and Fort Knox are the way to go. I personally don't deal with AMSEC or Browning any more, but I'll be happy to quote you pricing on the Fort Knox of your choice. As an example, their Defender Series D7241 runs $2,275.00. It has a 10GA body, and the door is comprised of 1/4 plate, two layers of fireboard, and a 10GA cap that ties back into the plate steel. Weight is 1,360 lbs. Fire rating is 1680 degrees for 90 minutes. Both steel thicknesses and fire ratings can be upgraded.

One last thought, I can make you a smoking deal on the Champion Triumph Series as they are about to make some changes on those safes (larger diameter locking bolts = eye candy). You'll still have concealed hinges, but those, like external hinges, can be a blessing or a curse, depending on how the safe is used.
