Does anybody else like recoil?

I kinda like shooting the Ruger .454 Casull. Loads of fun. Not sure I get any extra-special rush from doing so, but I do enjoy the discipline required to shoot it well.

If your going to shoot might as well know that your shooting something. Gotta love a little kick, or a lot in some cases.

Also as a little kid shooting my father's .30-06 I would use the recoil as motivation. As a kid it hurt, so before I pulled the trigger I thought have to make each shot count. No sense in hurting for a missed shot.

Recoil does not bother me at all and I like man-handling big guns that shoot big rounds. It makes me feel like a man. Anybody else feel this way

You must be fairly young - give it time, you'll see the errors of that line of thinking.....;)

LOL^^

He should've thought about what he typed a little better.

with that said, I like the challenge that larger calibers bring.

Nope, generally speaking, I don't care for it. I am fine with some, but not too much. Shoves are ok, getting punched in my shoulder is not.

I love it. The only thing I don't like is snappy recoil from say a 9mm carbine, but a big .300win mag that pushes on me just feels right.

I also can't understand why some folks would want to silence their rifles. I can understand if your out in a battlefield and you don't want the bad guy to know where you are, but at a shooting range? Bring on the boom. :D I love firing my .300, and the guy three benches down goes "What the f*^k was that?!!?"...Makes me giggle a bit on the inside. Last time I was there I had just missed a .50BMG, he was putting it in the case when I got there, could only imagine the looks that thing gets.

I assure you there are no errors in my line of thinking as there are many others here who feel the same way!

Not a fan of painful recoil bruising the shoulder. However, I do enjoy the bright flashes and thunderclap reports of magnum revolvers, provided my ears are suitably protected. That huge fireball which warms the fingers and lips is indeed bliss, as is smacking the target at the absurd ranges made easy by long barrels and hot loads.

Personally i do like a little recoil, like say that of a .50 cal muzzle loader, or 12ga 3" slug...but shooting my 30-30 after about 20 rounds on the range at 100 yards gets to be tirring...but for all day shooting i do like a good 22 semi-auto, but I just can't resist the boooooooms from higher powered rifles

Still don't like heavy recoil, see no sense to experience pain for no reason. I also do not go around walking into brick walls, but I guess for those who wish, go for it, Our new Health care will hopefully take care of it.

I think the recoil of a load like a .38 spl +P in a snubbie is about as much as I'd like.

After shooting the M-4 and the M-16 I really don't think that's enough to keep me hooked. They fulfill their niche nicely in so far as they allow you to keep rounds on target, but saying I could get enjoyment out of shooting what feels like an air rifle is an overstatement.
Say what you want about people being immature but not everyone's goal in shooting is technical perfection or super tight groups at a gazillion yards. Some people like to shoot at dynamic targets. And that simply can't be done with a .22.

Nope. Don't dig it.

Beat myself up with a .44Mag yrs ago & decided that mess wasn't for me. I don't mind being reminded I'm shootin' a real gun, packin' some real punch, but I'm not into punishing myself unnecessarily.

depends on the type of recoil.

i enjoy large pushes but i dont like large snaps. i enjoy shooting full power .44 mag revolvers but i dont like shooting the .40sw. the .40 is too snappy for me, or maybe its the fact that i've only fired it in glocks and the glock is too light for me. the 1911 in .45acp is my favorite round to play with. its got a good push to it but it isnt snappy.

i fired 50 rounds of .30-06 yesterday, my shoulder is sore today but i enjoyed it. the .45-70 is fun to me but many of the new magnums aren't fun to me.

It has got to be the latter, lightweight handguns, because .44 Magnum has a slightly higher maximum pressure than .40 S&W as well as a much larger recoil impulse. Honestly, I don't know what it is about the recoil of .40 S&W that merits so much notoriety--to me it feels much like 9mm Luger, only slightly stronger.

Mr.38spl - that's funny right there. You like a 3" slug out of a shotgun but worry about a .30-30 - Oh, your .50 muzzle loader probably kicks more than your .30-30, but with a longer pulse (making it more of a push than a punch). I love well crafted sarcasm.

Read his other post.... smells of a bored, educated member just having fun with silly comments under a new ID. Uggh.... some folks have to much free time.

Give me the loudest gun possible please!... I love recoil, big flash and lots of noise. Case in point, my Ruger Blackhawk .30 Carbine. the ONLY reason i own that gun is because its LOUD! and I love it!

Only a matter of time I start reloading and then i'll step up to a S&W 500

JOe

I don't mind recoil, but I can't say I want to spend an afternoon getting pounded. I assume I'll leave the range with a little bruise on my shoulder, but I don't want it dislocated (.577 fans).

I've noticed that the worst thump out of everything I own is my model 92 with full power .44 mag loads. Seems to thump worse than 3 in. magnum slugs or buckshot from my 870. I enjoy the nice push from my Mosin as well!

It had been a while, but I've found my 44 pistol to wear me down as well, but fun to shoot nonetheless.

Well, nope. At my age and with my blood thinners I always use a recoil pad with anything bigger than a .22 . . . I forgot the pad one day when I was sighting in my .30-06 before hunting season and had a bruise from my nipple to my elbow for about 3 weeks.

Did I want to do that again? Not so much.

AK Baby

The way a 7.62x39 AK pulsates with that big heavy action is magical and with pistol grips from the hip is just addicting its not .50 cal big but AK recoil has a special place in my heart

I like a good hot .357 load that lets you know you aren't using a peashooter, and I can tolerate my .44 and .454 just fine, although I don't "love" the recoil. Rifle/slug-gun recoil tends to bother me from some guns and not from others. For instance, my .308 Sako is a breeze to shoot, but my little .410 Saiga kicks like a mule. Weird.
