I have had it on layaway for almost two months, as I found a S&W 908 semi-auto for a great deal in the in between time and I had to have both.

I was able to take it out today and run 50 130gr FMJ's and a few of my 135gr +p Gold Dot HP's for carry as well. It ran fantastic:D, and was smooth and accurate for the purpose!! I got a little more accurate with it every cylinder I ran through her. It felt harder but as constant and smooth as my older Smiths.

I will be removing the lock and replacing with the "plug" (also doing my 686+), but I will be staying with the S&W black rubber grips that came on it. Even though I do not traditionally like rubber grips for carry, these seem to not be too grippy, and still work well for harnessing the reciol of this mini giant!

All in all I am very pleased with the fit and finish, and also the smoothness and overall handling of this concealed carry revolver. S&W hit above what I was expecting for this peice, and definately a deal for the $470 it ran me.

Here she is!!

Let me know your opinions and experiences with the Bodyguard series!! Thanks.

Nice choice. I'm looking at those right now. You getting the lock insert sold at the S&W forum? Looks like a fun DIY job.

I think that it's the ideal pocket gun.

It's taking me a while to settle on a EDC gun, and the SP101 was on the short list until I held one. Like the 649, the SP101 has the .357 option but both guns weigh in around 24oz. The 638 class put you into .38+P class, but that's a good round and 15oz. is easy carry. The shrouded hammer with SA option solves all kinds of problems. So a process of elimination leads to this as a strong contender. The Taurus 851 is a similar gun, but the S&W is only slightly more expensive. This is just my own thinking and others will reach different conclusions.

Excellent choice.

It will never win a beauty contest. But beauty is as beauty does. It has been my constant companion for 10 years. Whether my 1911 is on my hip or not. My 638 is always in my back pocket. The "humpback" makes it ride better than any other snubby I have tried.

Xavier,
Your write up on your 649 is one of the things that made me choose this particular peice for myself. It is proving to be better than I thought, and I can see this being my constant companioin on a daily basis. Thanks for your experiences.
