I was digging around in some of my earliest posts here on THR and found one from 2004...

Thought it deserved a part 2... with a twist...

So... what's the most "displeased with" gun you have owned...

And, now for the twist:

What's the most pleased with gun you still own, and why.

My most displeased with is still the Kel-tec sub-2000 1st gen

Neat concept, lot's of wow factor, used Baretta pistol magazines, but it had crappy sights, was 9mm, and to put it mildly, shot like :cuss:

But it was just so darn TACTICOOL I had to have it!!!!

I traded it for my Kalashniclone and never looked back.

The most pleased I've been with a gun used to be my 4" Smith & Wesson .44
I got it for a super deal and being from the Green Mountain State, there's just a little extra attachment to a firearm that has "Mountain Gun" etched on the barrel...
But that has since been far eclipsed by the unassuming little .22 rifle I recently refurbished with my kids...
That rifle is definately the most pleased I've ever been with a gun.

.22 rifle- $75
Cleaning supplies- $10
Spending an afternoon teaching your kids how to care for a firearm- Priceless

the most "displeased with" gun you have owned...
Walther P22

What's the most pleased with gun you still own, and why.
Enfield 303 British.

The most accurate gun I have........for $30

I have others I like better, but that one has been the most pleasing for the cash.

Most displeased-with gun is a tie between:

Winchester 1911SL 12ga autoloader - infamously unsafe to fire. Got taken in by the shop that sold it to me, and got suckered on the price.
Colt Sistema 1927 - ripped my hand up pretty good (hammer bite). Finish had been removed by a Dremel. Once again, bought because I didn't know any better.

The most pleased with gun I still own, and why?

Sig P6. Never a single reliability issue, the most accurate pistol I've ever owned, comfortable to shoot (after a trigger job and 22# mainspring), and comparatively inexpensive. Trusted for carry, range fun, and home defense, it's the only pistol I currently own.

Bersa Thunder 9mm UC Pro. Thought it would be great, being a lefty and this being totally ambidextrous....unfortunately not very nice in the hand, sharp edged bulky safety/decocker catching top of thumb, interfered with grip, and very "meh" on accuracy. Also heavy for CCW piece.

Different strokes for different folks....but to the OP, my Kel Tec Sub 2k is one of my faves and mine shoots excellently! :)

most Displeased: A Taurus Slide actio .22. It misfires about half the time, despite being back to Taurus 3 times.

So... what's the most "displeased with" gun you have owned...

Remington Express Tactical 12GA. Mag likes to hang up and not feed shells, and the powdercoated finish lasted about a week before flaking off. The mag seems to have sorted itself out after multiple dis/reassemblies, but it's always on the back of my mind. I don't really care about the finish, but for nearly $400, i expexted a bit more.

The most pleased I've been with a gun

Two way tie between a 2.5" S&W 66 and a Glock 26. Both have exceeded expectations in reliability, accuracy, and fit and finish. They both feel as though they were tailored for me and i smile whenever I hold one.

Most displeased with:

Marlin 1894 Cowboy in .38/357 with the hexagonal barrel. For whatever reason, it just shot like sh%$. At 25 yrds it was all over a piece of letter sized paper. I tied it with open sites and later with a 3-9 bushnell and it did the same thing. There must have been something wrong with it as with other rifles im a reasonable shot. I ended up trading it in.

Most pleased with:
Benelli Supernova pump. Really nice gun :)

7 shot .357 magnum with 4 inch ported barrel. Loud, and jammed! Returned to factory, jammed again.
Bright spot, sold for a little less than what I paid for it even after I gave the full disclosure to the issue.
Only gun I don't regret getting rid of.

Most displeased with:

WASR-10 from Aim. "Minute of mid-sized bus" is how I'd describe the accuracy of this piece of garbage.

Most displeased with handgun;
Walther P22, never accurate, never reliable, front sights fell off. dumped quickly with no regrets.

Most pleased with handgun;
2nd Generation Glock 19, traded for the equivilent of $250, never has failed, acceptably accurate, it is my house gun for last ten years.

Most displeased with shotgun;
Winchester Model 97, accidental discharges too many times to be comfortable with.

Most pleased with;
Browning Citori/Mossberg 500. Two guns here, both are stellar in all regards.

Most displeased with rifle;
Ruger 10/22, several of them. The rifles just never once met my expectations.

Most pleased with; Winchester Model 70 Featherweight in .243 Winchester.
Has met all my expectations and in many cases, exceeded them.
It stays on the back forty as an always there, ready to go hunting rifle.

Most Displeased:
S&W 442 that I got for the sweet price of $300 (with two holsters, 2 speed loaders, and 75 rounds of ammo)...that little bugger chewed up my knuckle on the cylander release when firing. I sold to get an SP101.

Most Pleased:
It's a tie:
S&W M&P40c...love that little gun. Light, high capacity, and has been 100% reliable for me.
Remington 581 bolt action .22 rifle. Will shoot 1/4 inch groups (5 shot) at 50 yards with match ammo. It's glass bedded and free floated. Has a light barrel and is excellent for squirrel hunting...my first rifle.

worst -----COP 357....big, heavy and for acuracy;the safest place to be was standing with your back to the target:eek:

best are many. this week its a colt police positive from long ago. groups 6-38S&W's under 2" at 25 feet. off-hand shooting a 100+ year old gun with ammo i made the day before--i'm happy.

Worst: Chinese clone of Ithaca 37 called "YL12-1J4"; required a lot of work to stabilise the forearm-action tube nut. Plus due to inertia, the magazine feed release only works reliably when the gun is used with a pistol grip (pushing forward on the forearm while pulling back with the grip). If I charged myself for my time, the extra work made this gun no bargain. For a few bucks more, I could have had a Mossberg 500 and fewer headaches. On the other hand, it has been an excuse for extra trips to the country and a couple hundred rounds trigger time.

Best: tie between Marlin Model 60 and Ruger Mark II.

I got a Yugoslavian M70AB2 underfolder.

It was a literal piece of crap; wouldn't properly seat steel mags due to tight magwell, rear leaf was literally rusted internally and wouldn't budge, and the stock wobbled. Not "rattled" - wobbled, as in 2-3cm of up-and-down play.

Vendor is supposed to get it tomorrow. I'll most likely ask for a refund after they concur with me.

the most pleased with guns I've owned are all the others. But the number-one pick would be my Glock 17 (I know, I know...)

Even though my AR is my treasured rifle, I got that "buyer's second thought" everyone once in awhile gets because of all the stuff you can do to it. But with the Glock it is the only gun I've owned that I can't think of a second way to spend that $500.

most displeased: a ruger p95 I bought, every time I fired it the magazine dropped out.

most pleased: Ruger Redhawk alaskan, it's just a joy to look at, to hold, and to shoot.

Most displeased with:
Ruger 10/22, Remington Viper 522r
Horrid, horrid examples of firearms.

Most pleased with:
FEG PA-63, Mosin-Nagant 91/30
Both go bang every time and do everything I've ever asked of them.
Plus it helps being my first pistol and rifle.

Walther P22 was the most disappointing gun I have ever owned. Kahr K9 was disappointing but not anywhere near as bad as the Walther.

Most pleased with, my Glocks.

Worst-

Benelli M1 super 90 'tactical' Its a great gun, always ran but was way too long, overly heavy and kicked worse than some pumps I loved it but hated it

HK91 I wanted to love this gun, but I hated it so much, ergonomic like a 2x4, hard to charge, long and heavy. I LOVE the idea but hate the gun

most displeased= a Charter Arms AR7 .22cal "survival rifle" absolute piece of cr@p. sold it almost 30 years ago. I would have thrown it off a bridge but it was designed to float. (about the only promise it could keep)

most pleased? a winchester model 70 featherwt in .243 that I bought at an estate auction. it is a joy to carry, a joy to shoot, and it has killed a couple of truckloads of game over the years.

most pleased-with shotgun is a Beretta 390 Sporting that has busted thousands of clay targets and a bunch of ducks, geese, pheasants, hundreds of doves, with a total of ONE failure to feed/fire in over 50K rounds. I bought it in a Mom&Pop hardware store in Iowa for $525 when the 391s were just new in the rack.

Best handgun is the used S&W model 66 (no dash anything) that I bought while in college in the 1970s and living in an affordable but crime-riddled area.

Most displeased:

Springfield M1A Scout. It has been unreliable and fails to feed intermittently. Because it's an intermittent problem, it's hard for anyone to diagnose. It's currently on its second trip back to Geneseo.

Most pleased:

S&W M&P 40. Extremely reliable, good trigger, It's my daily carry and IDPA gun. I recently shot 2000 rounds through it without cleaning, only had one malfunction, a light primer strike that may or may not have been ammo related.

Most displeased with gun: My father's Ruger Mark I. I've finally got all the bugs worked out of it (I'm sort of the family armorer), I think, but that darn thing's been flaky as can be since he bought it in 1972. Problems I've found / corrected:

(1) Feeding issues due to the magazine follower rivet dragging on the inside of the wood grips. Dremeled a channel in the grips to stop this.

(2) Feeding and accuracy issues with most types of .22LR ammunition. Switched to Mini Mags, and feeding and accuracy improved dramatically.

(3) Light strikes on primers resulting in ignition failures. Honed the firing pin and smoothed rough edges to reduce friction drag. Haven't tested it to see if this problem has gone away.

In the future I may also replace the recoil spring assembly entirely.

Most pleased with gun: My WASR 10/63 underfolder. It's rock solid and accurate. I didn't even have to adjust the front sights. A great fun gun.

Most displeased: there are several, but the most was a SIG Revolution Carry 1911. (The fact that I paid over $900 tips the balance in its favor, or should I say, disfavor.) Most pleased that I still have: Glock 19.

My S&W-made PPK/S model. I got it in 2006 to solve the I-want-to-carry-a Walther-but-don't-want-to-ruin-a-Walther-by-carrying-it-in-a-holster-all-day issue. Sadly, the recall ended that, and sending the guns back to Houlten for "repairs" is a crapshoot at best. The gun now sits in the far recesses of the safe, never to see the light of day again (unless my son decides to sell it after I'm gone).

Most displeased with gun???
Gotta be the kel-tec p11 for me, I couldn't hit anything with it and the plastic rear sight could be pushed around with thumb pressure.
