a repeater that will not explode unless using plastic tipped bullets?

I want to get a .357/.38 special to complement my revolver, but my research indicates regular rounds will (might) cause a chain reaction exlosion in the tube.

Is there a brand of repeater that can fire regular ammo safely?

I read something about a pump action, but it had reliability issues.

It's all about the tubular magazine. However, since you're looking at 357/38 lever guns, you have nothing to worry about. The flat point pistol bullets designed for pistol rounds like the 38, 44, 45, etc. will all work perfectly in a tube magazine. Then if you wanted to go pointed, you could get some of the Hornady FTX rounds. They're the only pointed bullet currently available that is safe for a tubular magazine.

+1

Even the bigger bullets are supposed to be in a tube which has an off-center spiral-wound inner core so the bullet tips hit the EDGE, the rim, of the cartridge in front -- I suppose this proved effective for the past hundred years and more. It is things like a .30-30 that typically had flat faces and guns made for them that are now available in supposedly safe pointed LEVERevolution ammo.

Browning BLR. Has a box magazine. Not available in .357 mag though.

+2 It's a non-issue will pistol caliber leverguns. Pistol rounds do not typically generate enough recoil to set of a primer in the tube. They also have flat nosed bullets and even FMJ is too rounded to do it.
