Centerfire Systems .22 Conversion Kit

A call to Centerfire revealed it was either made or sold to them by HS which supposedly stands for HIgh Standard. I'll follow up tomorrow with a range report. :D

If I was in the market I would give it a try. I've always been very happy with Centerfire. I love my Kimber conversion, but it was a lot more money.

This is a curious specimen. Says .22 lr conversion kit on the right side, "Made In Europe" on the left. For all intents and purposes it is an exact copy of the fixed-sight Ceiner, with an drift windage adjustable rear sight with set screws. Even uses the same mags as the Ceiner.

Runs great with CCI mini mags, probably due to the copper plating. Had a failure with some bulk American Eagle, but have had similar problems with other pistols with this ammo. I would rate it as good as the Ceiner's I've owned.

Works on either my Commander or my Government 1911 and clears both ejectors with ease. Here's a crappy iphone pic on my Fusion Bobtail.

Received this Thursday, will be taking it out tomorrow morning. It doesn't fit on my older Springfield Armory frame, it rubs on the front dust cover. It fits okay on my Charles Daly 5" frame, but if you ride the slide to battery, it doesn't go all the way into battery. It fits best on my 4" frame Kimber Eclipse. No rubbing or other weird stuff.

There was rust where the recoil spring guide pin fit into the barrel underneath. How do you take the barrel out of the slide anyways? I couldn't get it angled out while holding the recoil spring away.

Will this conversion kit work with a Rock Island Compact model (3 1/2") barrel?

The page for the Ciener conversion, that this one seems to be based on, lists separate items for Full Size, Commander, and Office size guns. Maybe they are different barrel lengths to match the gun? Not sure if this one would fit properly.

Took this conversion out this morning. Failure to feed right off the bat with a full mag and pulling the slide fully back. Same in both the Kimber and Charles Daly frame. Seems like I could get them to feed when I loaded 3-4 rounds in the mag. Didn't matter though, almost every shot had a failure to extract. I was using Winchester X and some high velocity Winchester Bulk and Federal HV bulk. Did have a three shot string once or twice. Sometimes when it did pull the brass out it would fail to eject because of the energy loss to pull the sticking brass. I'm going to pull the barrel, check the ramp, super clean the chamber and check for burrs near the firing pin area that might impede the round as well.

Noticed when the slide is in battery, the barrel is super loose. I wonder if that's how it is in other conversions as well?

Hoping for the best.

I have a Colt Ace (22 lr )--made to train GI's to shoot a 45ACP--what a shock when they fired the real thing..................:eek::eek:

I picked up the last two boxes of CCI Stingers yesterday from Wal Mart. Put the brass bore brush in the drill and cleaned the chamber out too. Looks better. If I can get it to work then I'll order mags from Midway.
