Anybody know where I can get a bow similar to the one in the photo that when unstrung unwinds into a circular shape? Thanks in advance.

Have you tried Lukas Novotny from Saluki Bows? salukibow.com

He makes several styles of horn bows plus natural and glass bows.

I have a short Scythian and a Damascus similar to your braced picture.

The thumbring is tough to get used to but provides a very good release.

Atarn.org is a great source.

Thomas Duvernay can supply a Hwarang glass bow for a fair price but it's no composite. He also has a lot of knowledge on the Korean bows and their history.

Be prepared for a long wait and a lot of $$ for a quality asiatic horn bow.

Yes I have...checked his website but did not find a model that will constrict into the circular shape. Emailed him over the weekend, still waiting for a reply.

If you want a Korean one specifically, I'd recommend looking into Korean makers.

Doesn't have to be Korean...the ability to constrict is really what I'm after. The reason is I want a traditional designed bow that can fit in a suitcase or possibly carry on my back without getting in the way and without being too noticeable.

Very big money if you do find one.

Yeah but it's on my to get list.

I'm sure Lukas can make you a Korean style bow like the one pictured with much higher quality.

They're probably not the best bows for travel because they can very in draw weight depending on climate. They're also difficult to brace and can be ruined without proper attention.
A short 3pc wood/glass takedown is ideal for travel or backpacking and can be had quickly for far less $$.

$3000 plus a 2 year wait is a big investment for a true horn bow but it's definitely on my bucket list.

Yeah I just spoke to Lukas...he said he most definately can but informed me that the shape will not remain the same and will open up over time. What a great and honest guy. I'll be sure to get my next bow from him.

XD,

Any recommendations for the 3 piece wood/glass takedown bow you mentioned?

Playmaker,

Check out dryadbows.com

These guys have teamed up with Black Mountain Bows and have a 54" 3pc takedown bow that's on my short list.

Dryad and Black Mountain have great reputations for quality and customer service.
