Has anyone found "Their" perfect rifle?

A Browning BLR is getting close to perfect, for me. My newest is a Takedown, in .308 Winchester. Life is good.

Another close-to-perfect rifle is my Winchester Model 70 Safari Express in .375 H&H. It really needs a better rear sight, though.

No rifle that blows so much gunk into its innards (AR15) can ever be perfect for me. I tolerate one of them, because I can use it at work, and I like the idea of a citizen owning the rifle used by the nation's military.

With a good compact red-dot optic, such as an Aimpoint Micro T-1, I think a Mini-14 may be my idea of a perfect .223 utility carbine, covering HD/SD duties. In a couple of weeks, I'll be trying out my new T-1, on one of my Minis.

I think a Ruger Number One approaches perfection, for what it is. Like most rifles, it needs better sights, such as those offered by New England Custom Gun Service.

That's a lifelong pursuit........ and I'm still pursuing.

I do think though, that I could sell off every one of them but one; well, maybe 2, and that would do.

Well, maybe 4. Dang it, now ya see what I'm up against. :uhoh:

Despite being a 54 year-old gun novice (< 3 years), for economics with a little power, the SKS,
or handiness+much more power, LE #5 "Jungle Carbine".

On second thought, the ancient Savage .22, for the best economics and low profile.

I like Huskers choice but finding a Mohawk in .223 at a reasonable price would be akin to finding a cache of gold coins so I will have to settle for this one.

Remington 600 Mohawk action in a Remington 660 stock.

VERY accurate
Light, handy and just...well...pretty.

i found mine, it is a m1a ss loaded. my ss mini 14 is great. but after i went shooting with my m1a for the first time i knew i was in love now i dont think about what rifle to get next or what other rifles i might like. im just happy. i also own a ar 15 that is a good shooter but doesnt interest me. though i would like to try it with an eotech some day.

i really love my ar15, but for some reason when the "favorite rifle" thing comes up, "garand" seems to always be the first thing that i think of.

Maverick, I'll bet that oen took work - almost bought one years ago.

This is the best one to date, works perfectly every time, light recoil, fun to shoot. while It may not be as accurate as a lot of the very nice rifles posted here, (niehter am I, come to think of it. :) ), it will hit a man shaped target at 200 yards seated unsupported using the EOTech.

Like I said, a lot of AR guys can shoot better than this, but I am happy with it. :)

Now for the work in prograss, this little carbine is the bees knees...if I can ever get a working scope. Gone through two, now, and the rear sight came unstaked the first range trip. Love shooting it, and it gives some better groups at 200 yards, seated unsupported, with 3-9 scope.

Once I get it up and running properly, it might be an even toss up between the two. :)

Yes sir, I have a thread around here detailing some of the modifications and additions if you are interested. Years ago I strongly considered other platforms before deciding on the M17, most notably the AR-15 and am confident that I made the right decision.

EDIT: found it.

Perfect rifle? No
Perfect gun? Yes

My remington 870. I have dozens of fond hunting memories with that ole gal and it does everything I ask of it.

I know, I know, this is rifle country, but I couldnt resist.

flyinbryan that is one sweet looking rifle.

why thankyou jeepguy!

its a cmp service grade. 1944 springfield m1 garand.

its very close to being all correct, all springer except the trigger gaurd, which is winchester milled.

Swiss 5XX series. I have yet to find a rifle that feels better and is that reliable. I'm up to 1,700+ rounds with zero jams, nada, just goes bang when I pull the trigger every single time.

They run like a Swiss watch.:D

Although I don't own a Fal yet so this may change.

I'd also have to go with my Garand. Just pure joy to shoot. As for a modern conventional bolt action, my Browning X-Bolt in .25-06 gets the nod. MBR-wise, it's gotta be the SA58 FAL.

For me, my perfect rifle is the 50-70 Trapdoor I built using the stock and components from an reproduction 1841 Musket (Mississippi Rifle). Totally dependable and accurate, it shoots enough lead to handle any game on this continent. I am working on filing the sights so POA and POI coincide at 100 yards.

I realize this is not the kind of rifle everone is going to go out and get but for me it is as close as I'll come...for now!

Have many "perfect rifles".....for specific purposes. If I had to choose one over all the others, would be this Winchester 52B Sporter.

That is a beautiful rifle!! I saw one around here recently, how good does it shoot?

Shoots better than I do...one of life's simple pleasures is taking it out on a cool fall day, leaves crunching underfoot, and hunting Mr squirrel.

Have other 52 target models that are more accurate, the Sporter brings back those childhood memories.
