Hi, I'm pretty new to revolvers and recently decided to carry SW 360PD. Now I'm wondering what do I do for reloads. Which is the easiest to use, speed loader or speed strip? Any particular brand? Do these things work for different revolvers as long as they are also 5 shot like the 360PD?

The speed loaders are fastest with all 5 or 6 rounds dumped into the cylinder at one time. Cast semi wadcutters seem to hang somewhat on the 1st driving band but are still much faster than the speed strips. The speed strips carry nice, do not under any circumstances spill the rounds like some speed loaders can. They load 2 rounds at a time and are useful for topping off the cylinder. I find them more useful in the field.

reloads

I’m not totally convinced that it is necessary to have a reload on your person at all times, yet when I do I use a speed strip these are a little slower than a speed loader, yet don’t have the bulk of the speed loader. If you feel the need to carry a speed strip several companies sell belt pouches that snap to your belt or you could find a horizontal cell phone holder that should work just fine, and when was the last time you paid any attention to someone with a cell phone attached to their belt?

Speedloaders are much faster, but uncomfortable to carry in a pants pocket. In a jacket pocket, I use a speedloader. But for pants carry, strips.

Me either.

It's only necessary on the days when you're going to run out of ammo, so just carry it on those days.....

LOL

I carry a pocket snubbie as a just-in-case rattlesnake gun, with a couple of regular slugs in the cylinder as a just-in-case badger/coyote/wolf gun (I hike with my dogs). So I like to have some spare ammo. I have very little of any particular type actually in the revolver at a given time.

los I LOVE that pic.! I know you said you like the speedstrps but my husband makes speedloaders that would look so nice next to your revolver! Here's his website if u guys want to check it out :) http://www.5starfirearms.com

Very nice craftsmanship!

I gotta wonder, though..........speed loaders for a .500 mag??? lol. It'd take less time to reload than it does to recover from each shot............

I have used HKS speed loaders with great results. I have also used speed strips. However, I generally just carry 10-12 extra loose rounds in my pocket. Since I hold the gun in my left hand and reload with my right, I use the right front pants pocket for ammo only. If I was in a competition shoot, or a timed qualification with reloads, it would be speed loaders all around, otherwise its not an issue for me.

I carry both, depending on what I am wearing. Speed strips if I am going light weight and Safariland Speed loaders if I am wearing a jacket in the right pocket. Get both and see which you prefer.
