Fair price for a used Makarov?

I'd list it at $240. Makarovs typically go from $220 to $260, though the price dropped to around $220 for surplus Makarovs with a holster and 2 mags. The dies will increase the value, of course. You can probably list it as "Used, like new."

I'm surprised you're letting him sell it and not snapping it up yourself.

For months now I haven't seen a Makarov at the gun shows for less than $300.

I own a few Makarovs but would still jump on a good one in the $200 to $250 range.

Actually I have one more NIB Russian Mak that's not in the picture.

Believe it or not, I am not a Makarov collector. I'm just a sucker for a good buy. The Mak is such a great gun and for years sold for such a low price that almost every time I ran across a decent price I'd buy it. From my first one, the East German, I said this is over a $400 gun, selling for $100.

I've owned twenty some. It seemed that in the early days every time someone shot my Mak they had to have one, so I'd usually sell them the gun (for what I paid for it) and I'd end up buying a couple more.
You should have heard me trying to explain to my Wife why I "needed" six Makarovs.

Funny thing about the Makarov. Many owners buy another one or two after they buy their first one.
A few years ago I gave a LNIB Bulgarian Mak to a friend. Shortly after he bought two more. One a Russian .380.

I sold one to a friend's Wife (for what I paid for it) after she used the Makarov to beat everyone in her concealed carry class shooting qualification . She told her husband, "This is my Makarov. You get your own."
And he did.

Just like M2 says, I bought my first and then a second and then sold the second one to a friend and finally replaced it with another. I need atleast 2 for myself!!

Yeah, for a while there they were too hard to pass up, so I have two Bulgies, two Russian commercials (one .380 in satin nickel, yeah the B-West import M2), and an East German. They are ALL great.

Yeah, that's the wrong screw for those grips. It should be a flathead screwdriver bolt. Stick a washer on it if it's going in too far, but don't overtighten it or you'll make the magazine catch not work right. You can get wood grips from Marschal Grips that are much thinner than the Pearce rubber grips, only slightly thicker than the original Bakelite grips, or you can pick up original Bakelite grips from a number of sources. I used Pearce grips on my Makarov until my Marschal grips arrived. You'll need to also pick up a Makarov grip screw for either the Marschal grips or the Bakelite grips, though.
