Content...Freddy may be able to hook ya up with one of those shotguns that you seek. Try The Gun Store in Lexington. From I-85 north, take US 52 north toward Winston-Salem...then exit 92. Turn left and it's less than a half-mile from the exit on the left...at the first stoplight.

gc70...Come on by. I've lost three dogs since you were here last...Collies...and gained about six...including 2 Siberian Huskies and a Siberian/Red Wolf hybrid that was bred over in the Uwharries. Also picked up a pretty little female Pit and a Yorkie who thinks he's supposed to be in somebody's lap every minute.

I'm am soooo glad you posted this! Hyatt is only good for browsing and getting the feel of guns. That's it! They have the most rediculous prices I have EVER seen! Even their concealed carry classes cost $175 (+/-). And not to mention that some of their staff is extremely rude! I walked in their a couple weeks ago when the NRA convention was in town and was looking at a Yugo M70 and a young salesman that worked there kept trying to press my buttons. Every little thing that I said he would disagree with and was basically telling me I didn't need an AK (for some reason). So finally I just said, "Well I'll buy whatever I wanna buy, It is MY money afterall."

+1 for Eagle Guns in Concord!!!!!!!!!
They are my favorite gun shop. I just purchased an AK Draco Pistol this past Saturday from them! They are very polite and they even lowered the price by $20. Will definitely be making more business with them in the future.

Also, Check out Gun Works in Salisbury! Very helpful staff and GREAT prices on everything!

Enachos,

Was that younger salesman probably late teens early twenties, darker skinned, dark hair... Cause if so, he is one of the ones that tried to argue with me.

A friend and I have both purchased handguns from Hyatt when we naively new to firearms last year. Knowing what I know now, there were better prices at Gander Mountain, and I wouldn't have had to pay a $15 fee for the paperwork!

Now that I'm a little more informed, I found a little place called Aisle Pawn in Mooresville. Their prices are reasonable for both new and used guns, and you typically get a lower price than what's on the sticker, which is lower than MSRP most of the time. I bought my third pistol there for less than anything I could have found online.

FuriousGeorge,

The Aisle Pawn Shop is also a fantastic place to purchase firearms! They have an amazing inventory and their staff is extremely knowledgable and polite. Every single time I walk in there I always get greeted and asked if I wanna see something!

The best gun shops that I have found here in the Salisbury-Concord-Charlotte area most definitely are:

1) Eagle Guns (in Concord) and they are opening a shooting range soon too!!!
2) Gun Works (in Salisbury which just moved next to the Food Lion on Jake Alexander BLVD.)
And last but not least) The Aisle Pawn Shop (in Mooresville)

#1 - HIGH-YATT gun shop is extremely expensive. but like an earlier poster mentioned, they do BIG business in charlotte. because of the size of their store, they can afford to watch a couple "gun nuts" walk out because of high prices, because a single sale to an ill-informed consumer can make up for it. it's weird math, but it works for them...

#2 - i agree with the post above mine...eagle guns (concord) and gun works (salisbury) are both good places...really good places, with really good prices, and really good people. you may also consider shooters express (belmont/gastonia) and firepower (matthews)

#3 - charlotte ain't bad at all. i'm from indianapolis (not what i would consider chicago/detroit). indy averages about 130 homicides per year. charlotte had about 70 last year...and people went ape-crazy. i feel EXTREMELY safe here compared to my hometown.

was in hyatt's about 4 years ago looking for a 3inch 1911. ask the guy at the counter and he hands me a 3.5inch:scrutiny:, i said no, im looking for a 3inch he grabs another 3.5 from the counter:scrutiny:. i said no a 3 inch he said those are 3inch:scrutiny:. i say no they are 3.5. so he grabs his ruler to teach me a lesson and lo and behold they are 3.5inchers:neener:. then the gun smith stops and says they dont make anything shorter than 3.5:scrutiny: i say yes they do. so he gets the catalog to teach me a lesson and lo and behold theres a colt defender and a springer micro looking at us:neener:. looks at me and says i can order it for you. i laugh at them both and leave. never been back.

indykappa,

I agree that Charlotte isn't that bad. I'm originally from... (guess where)... CHICAGO! And i don't fell too uncomfortable in Charlotte. Although I will admit that there are some "shady" areas to be careful in. But I guess that can apply to almost every major city in the US.

Also, thanks for the confirmation about the statements I made about Eagle Guns and Gun Works. I love those stores so much that I tend to direct a lot of people to those places. So in other words, ANYBODY LOOKING FOR A GOOD PLACE TO SHOP, HEAD DOWN TO THOSE STORES AND CHECK THEM OUT! haha

FYI....on the recommendations here i visited Eagle Guns in Concord this weekend. Nice place. Friendly staff. decent prices, Nice selection as well. My kind of place.

Honestly, just window shopping. There were some nice rifles there though. The biggest thing was they kicked the crap out of the local range near here on ammo.

I only ever buy ammo from a store when I'm in a hurry to go shooting. Otherwise its always cheaper to order online. But they do have decent prices on ammo.

One of the times I was there the owner and me got to talking about FN products and how I loved them so he let me play with the SCAR he was keeping in the back and the FNP .45 tactical edition for a little bit even though he knew I wasn't going to buy them. One of the happiest days of my life, haha.

I apologize as this isn't what you were talking about, but it does deal with a smart a-- sales person in a gun store. I say gun store, but everyone in town is actually a pawn store.

I got my Dad's Glock 17 when he passed away. I had been against Glocks until I felt how light it was. I bought a book about Glocks and decided that a Glock 36 would be THE Glock for me.

I went to a gun store and I ordered it. I liked it but I thought a Glock 30 was what I really needed! I went back to that same gun store and told him that I would like to order another Glock.

He said: "Why don't you buy a REAL gun" and then mentioned what that gun was. I wasn't interested in it. He continued: "My friends give me a hard time for carrying a 9mm, but if I get into a gun fight, I'll just shoot him in the eye."
He was dead serious! I left after he continued on talking. Never did he offer to order the Glock.

I left and drove across town to a big one near me. I told them that I wanted to buy a Glock 30 from them. Without signing anything or paying anything, they ordered it and called the next day to tell me that it had come in.

Over the years since then, I have purchased around 20 firearms from them. I've never set foot in the other store, although I've been tempted to stop in and tell them how many thousands of dollars they missed out on.
But I doubt they would even care.

So, I've experienced similar poor salesmanship too. I've also experienced exactly what you posted about. I think it is childish to tell you after the sale, that you paid too much by not shopping in this store!

drool. LOL. I have been strongly considering taking up deer hunting again. I have not gone since I moved south (grew up in NYS and loved it). If I ever pick up a couple buds to run out with and a good spot to go, I will be fixin' to get me a REAL nice rifle. I will probably be headin' to Eagle should that happen.

I've never been hunting, but have always wanted to. I almost got an m1a so I could have a good tactical/battle rifle that could double as a hunting rifle, but the XCR just seemed more attractive to me at the time.

owsi26,
They probably wouldn't care about how much money they lost, at least to your face. But I'd be content with the knowledge that you didn't give them a penny of it.

Now I'm just trying to find a place to get targets that have a bad guy holding a hostage. They had them at Hyatt's for $1, but I refuse to give them a cent. Maybe I'm just stubborn, but its the principle of thing to me.
