I think he was referring to Kimber's 500 round break in, not the M&P or XD.

I voted the M&P9C because I am very pleased with the full size and can only imagine that translating to my compact series as well. It's also why I am looking to get one soon.

I'm not an XD fan but why is a full-size .45acp XD being put up against a 9mm compact Glock and M&P as a CCW choice??

Wouldn't a 9mm compact XD choice have been more fair?

glock 19

i already carry glocks for their simplicity and reliability so from the list, it is what i would be most comfortable with

Read prior posts before posting and all will be answered. Especially # 1 and # 24.

I went with the Glock 19 because of its size, capacity, ease of maintenance, commonality of aftermarket parts, simplicity, price, and decent accuracy.

Kimber (my vote). I carry a Kimber Ultra Crimson Carry II. Accurate. Compact. Reliable. .45 ACP (a plus). Heavy? Not really and I'm 5' 7" 140 lbs. The laser sight aides my older eye sight.

And I do agree with ghitch75...Colt Defender is an excellent choice. Again, because it is a Colt.

Glock? Too dangerous.
Khar? Not all that dependable. You can get a good one, but too many of them require too many trips to the manufacture to correct.
PT-92? Just too big for good carry. Besides it's a taurus...If you just have to have the "92" configuration, get the Beretta.
M&P 9C? Good choice.
XD 45? another good choice.

In my opinion, magazine capacity is a non-issue.

If I were rich like you Mags I'd hire a bodyguard. All kidding aside you've got a fantastic assortment of pistols there.

My guess is that reliability was a key in choosing the Smith, that and comfort as bulky guns for ccw tend to become idd guns (inside the dresser drawer). While I would love to say I'd pick the Kimber for the .45 factor I must admit I would carry the M&P. Up to 850 rounds now with no failures shooting lead, hollow points and FMJs.

Doubting for even a second the reliability of a ccw is a very bad thing, it leaves your mind free to imagine yourself losing that all or nothing encounter. That's the reason many carry a second as backup.

FWIW the Glock would be my second choice, interchange choice 1&2 if you please but I have little experience with the Glock, knowing mostly their excellent reputation.

I voted G19 because it is closest to my Carry gun (G23).

I have both the G19 and G23 but Can shoot the 23 much better for some reason. After carrying the 23 everyday for a few years, I am not inclined to change. Of course I don't mind the Grip angle and finger grooves. It has fit my hand well since day one. I guess I am a natural born Glock shooter :what:

I'd pick the MP9c because it's got the reliability of the Glock with a smaller more ergonomic size and without the obnoxiously absurd grip angle of the Glock.

I chose the Glock, but that's only because I didn't see the M&P for some reason.:banghead:
Either one makes for a tough fighting pistol.

Kimber

I alternate carry between all three Kimber barrel lengths (including the full size). I really like the slim frame of a 1911 and think it's very easy to conceal on my body. I sometimes carry a Glock 26 (to show I'm not a Glock-hater) and like it when clothing doesn't permit a larger pistol. Had a Glock 19, but sold it as it was just too square and bulky for me. 90% of my carry is a .45. Like anything else, just personal preference and what I feel comfortable with - and these are the two most important considerations when choosing a self-defense weapon. No one can make this choice for you.

It was tough for me between the Kimber Tactical Custom II and the Glock 19. I'm a die-hard glock fan all the way, but I'm a 1911 fan as well. The main deciding factor for me was the .45 round. I prefer to carry a .40, so if it was a G23, I would have said the Glock. But anyway, from what I've seen, Kimbers seem to be great guns, and I love a good 1911 with the punch of the .45.

I picked the Tactical Custom II because that is EXACTLY what my daily carry piece is. Load it up with 200 grain +Ps and you're set.

S&W M&P9c is on my short list. Small enough to be easily concealable IWB yet large enough for good capacity and shootability. Until I buy one my friends is not safe! Glock 19 is a close runner up but it is a little tall for my liking.
+1 on all of this.

None of the above.

I would not pick any of the listed guns.
Kimbers- Not as good as people think,
Taurus pt 92- way to big for a concealed weapon.
S&W m&p- Better S&W autos to pick from.
Springfield xd45- Not my cup of tea,(ugly)
Glock 19- Grip angle sucks, IMO.
My choice would be a SIG 225, 226 or 229 or a S&W 642

You listed a lot of large and heavy guns. I think this made the GLOCK a popular choice by default. That's why I chose it. Between it and the M&P... uhh... same thing just personal preference. So GLOCK will likely win this poll by default.

I still would go with the original tupperware gun, or in this case it's little brother G19. If I wanted a copy it would be an FNH or H&K. The XD and M&P are just the same thing only different, not better just different. I have some experience with SA 1911's (own a loaded longslde) they are ok not great just ok, XD is a big billboard and has a high bore axis, good gun just really ho hum. My first ever gun was a S&W model 39-2 circa 1978 later around 96 I got a model 59 it was a big let down, I have shot several S&W pistols and believe they should have stopped with the 39 and just made revolvers, same with Taurus and Ruger. I would recommend trying various pistols on your list, get the 92fs Beretta instead of the Taurus but they may be tooooo large for your stated purposes. Glock aftermarket and factory parts and accessories are everwhere and mags can be found for around 19 bucks. 9mm is cheaper to shoot and very effective in it's own right .40 and .45 are much more pricey, if you are newer to shooting the bigger caliber is not necessarily better. 9mm WWB 1000 rounds $240, .45acp $450 at Wmart. The more you shoot the better you get, and it is easier with the right tool. What do the LEOs recommend /or use?
