I have the PM 9 which I carry daily. I was thinking about getting the PM 45 and would like some first hand input if anyone has one.. Just looking at the specs it is just a tad larger than the PM 9 but can it be pocket carried like the 9mm? Recoil is probably a bit stout but shouldn't be as bad as the 40sw.

Any comment, good bad or ugly appreciated.:D

Thanks

I thought the same as you. I have a CW9 that I love so I bought a PM45. I expected the same reliability I had with the CW9. I am so disapointed. I have sent the PM45 in for Kahr four times to get fixed. It still jams and fails to feed constantly. I cannot get Kahr to accept it for repairs again. I have had to pay for shipping every time. Mine is a total POS. Others have said that theirs work great. Kahrs are great if you get one that works, but you are totally screwed if you get a bad one.

If you are OCD and "thinking about it" that means you are going to get it ;)
The PM45 is not pocket carry material. IMO.
Recoil isn't that bad, but you are shooting a lightweight 45 (no free lunch).
Not as punishing as the PM40, not as tolerable as the PM9.
Mine did not like Federal 185 JHP.
The PM45 is like a bigger version of the PM9 that offers a full grip and bigger bore.

Never shot the Kahr PM45 but have used the Glock 36 extensively. The G-36's recoil is very tolerable.

My PM9 had feeding problems early on, even after the stupid 200 round break in. They paid to ship it back twice. Since then it has been great. Shoots any ammo and is scary accurate for such a short barrel gun. I was also looking at the less expensive CW 45 but that needs to be holstered.

I have a Kahr P9. I had failure to battery problems right out of the box. The folks at Kahr, though very nice people, were of no use solving my problem. I finally figured it out as excessive extractor tension. The cartridge was not sliding easily under the extractor which caused excessive friction as the slide moved foward and prevented the slide to go fully into battery.

I lowered the extractor tension from 64 Oz.!!! Yes, 64 Oz., to 32 Oz. and my P9 has performed flawlessly ever since.

A shill on the Kahr talk forum suggested I had no right to the Kahr specification for extractor tension. The service person at Kahr said that "some info they do not want us giving out". Makes you feel good about their product, huh?

I know some folks who had zero problems with their Kahr pistols. Personally, I will not take a chance with them again. Once burned, twice shy. Good luck.

I have a PM45.... I really like the package. I find the recoil acceptable, but unpleasant by end of a shooting session. I've considered puting one of the hogue grip sleeves on to aid in grip and stop the aggressive checkering from tearing the flesh off of my hands.

I do experience an accidental mag drop maybe once every session. I don't know if I have a weak spring/catch or if the pistol is moving excessively in my hands causing me to activate the mag release. Another reason I want to try the grip sleeve.

My first 50 rounds were horribly frustrating. Every couple of rounds would FTE or fail to go back into battery. Reliability rapidly increased after the first box of ammo. After the first few sessions, even cheap blazer aluminum case stuff works flawlessly.

I love the smooth trigger... by far the smoothest in my collection.
