Hello all. I've had an NEF pump for about six months or so and it's been a joy to break clays with. In all seriousness, I was a bit hesitant to buy a Chinese knockoff of the classic American made 870, but money was an issue, and I went overseas for my Second Amendment needs. I really couldn't be happier with the performance of the NEF gun. It takes a weekly 200-300 target loads and maybe 10-15 slugs/00 buck loads to shake up the undergrowth. I've never had a problem with this gun, it is a workhorse. I've even seen some reviews that claim it to be superior, on average, to the 870!

The only problem I've had with the NEF is that the pump action was very stiff out of the box. However, with a nice metal file and a few squares of fine-grit sandpaper, the action is as smooth as butter. It hits doubles better than any pump gun I've tried--yes, even some of the 500-600 dollar Benellis. Of course, I'll probably upgrade once I get a bit more disposable income as the "made in china" stamp really hurts my patriotic soul to look at.

I know there have been some threads concerning this gun in the past at THR, and my purpose is not to over-analyze the same points. I just wondered if anyone else out there in Remington land has ever shot the NEF Pardner? I would definitely recommend it to anyone for a first shotgun. Any other satisfied customers?

My wife had her choice of the NEF youth or the 870. She shot both and prefered the NEF. I have shot it quite a bit and have to admit that it has truly surprised me. Of course I would never trade the winchester model 12 in 20 ga that I quaill hunt with for it, but I wouldn't trade that gun for a bucket of cash either.

Lasinvegas, I completely agree. For someone who will not shoot often, is just learning to shoot, or (like me) is on a student budget--NEF is an excellent choice. Too bad not much compares to the Winchester model 12s.

I have the NEF Pardner Protector. No complaints with it and has a affordable price. I've only shot 35 rifled slugs and 10 OO buck thru it. It's heavier than the 870 and a Excellent choice for a home defense shotgun:)

rough finish

It's a working mans gun dude, not something you show off to the gun snobs.

I have the pardner protector next to the bed and the camo'd version 12ga I use as my main waterfowl gun. I love them and I would say they are better than the current 870 express.

nothing wrong with those guns they do what there made to do id still rather have the Remington but its always better to start out with the cheaper gun. I think most of us had a single shot for our first.

The Pardner Pump, Hawk 982 and the new Stevens 350 are all very well made Chiense shotguns for the money. The Stevens 350 Ithaca 37 style shotgun is the highest quality of the three. It's a step above and a heck of a deal.

MAX100,

do you know if Ithaca 37 stocks (namely Choate stuff) will fit that Stevens? I'd probably grab one if so....

I sold my 870 Express a few years ago and decided it needed to be replaced. Based on a recommendation of one of our LE clients, I decided to get the NEF Pardner instead. I'm glad I got it! For a utility / defense shotgun I don't feel bad about leaving it out of the safe and I have total confidence in it. For $199 retail, you can't beat it.
You can buy a better shotgun, but it will cost you twice as much to get it.

I've had a pardner protector for a couple of years. It's a tough, reliable shotgun. It's the kind of gun you can carry around in the trunk of your car and not worry about it getting dinged up or scratched.

i handled a nef pardner hd and it was a super stout feeling/looking,heavy shotgun,i here alot of good reviews,it was stouter feeling then the mossburg clone looking shotgun, i think phillipine maker of .45"s,cant remember their name,it was rough.

If you have a Dick's Sporting Goods in your area, they routinely put the NEF Pardner on sale these days for $179. If you can catch the sale at the same time they drop $10 off on guns under $200, you can walk away with a stout, well-built, and reliable pump gun for $169.

.

I bought my 18" barrel Pardner Pump from Dicks for around $170, and I love this shotgun! :D
I've shot a few dozen 00 and slugs out of it, and could not be happier with it. I love the way it handles, and it is very strong. My gun is a true defensive weapon, no frills, just what I want in an HD shotgun.
As far as the action being stiff - when I'm blasting away with slugs or 00 buck, I don't really notice the finer points of the trigger. If I wanted a competition gun, I'd spring for an 870 or Winchester 1200/1300.

Got the same deal from Dick's couple years ago. Great shotgun for a ridiculous price. I put a tritium bead on it and it's GTG for anything within close quarter range.

I do wish it had rifle sights on it for slugs. Would increase it's effective range a bit.

Very good gun for the money.
