Price Competition...who paid the least for a Mosin??

1941 round receiver 91/30 (tula or the izhevsk plant i think. it has a triangle under the sights if that helps ) $50 from local pawn shop that couldnt sell it a couple of years ago because people thought it was old and ugly. great bore and shoots pretty well with bulgarian yellow tip heavy ball.

1939 91/30. Just recently bought from SOG. $77.00+ taxes

$75 from one of the club members who picked up a crate of them from SOG last year. Round receiver, to tired to check the arsenal...bore looks like crap even after extensive cleaning and 2 passes with an electrolytic set-up - still shoots pretty well. Gets hauled out once a year for the MultipleMilSurps match.

They were $49.99 when I bought them in 2002.

Back in the early to mid 1990's Mosins were stupid cheap. Despite the stupid Brady law the early 90's was a pretty good time for gun buying. I use to spend a good portion of my (LCPL and later CPL's) monthly pay check at the monthly Gun Show's around Camp Lejeune, NC....

Mosins were a really good deal back then. They were sold by JG Sales and Hunters Lodge in Shot Gun News for $39.00 (I wish I'd bought more of them). Usually about $45.00 retail at the shows.

Around 1996 or so I remember the price went up to $49.00 (gasp!).

When I finally decided to get my C&R (2008) the were at current price of $79.95.... :banghead:

I only bought 1 Mosin (round rec) back in the good old days because... Well, you could buy brand new Chicom SKS's retail for $79.00 each. SKS' were just so much funner to shoot and that Norinco yellow box 7.62X39 came in 1440rnd cases for like $59.00....

I won a 91/30 several years ago from a firearms auction site that was just starting up (can't remember the name of the place, now). Ended up paying about $40 for shipping + transfer in CA. Still not bad!

I think if we post the year the rifle was bought it would be a more accurate price comparison.

I bought mine for $99 at Fleet Farm in May 2010.

I paid $112 for a 91/59 and $ 150 each for a 91/30 and a M44:banghead:
I'd do it again though.

I got one in 1969 for the cost of three .223 bullets. Should have kept it but traded when I got a SKS.

$49 in 2003 for my M-44.

My own best is $55 for a Type 53. A friend of mine, though, picked up 4 dozen M44s at $15 each about 2 years ago.

there is a laminate stock 91/30 on gunbroker =right now= that is looking for a buyer at $59 + $20 shipping.

I bought a pretty good lookin' one in 1998 for $40 if I remember correctly, along with a $30 ammo can full of the crappy steel-core surplus ammo.

$79 about 4 years ago for a very nice 1937 Tula. I got it from Big 5 during one of their specials.

I paid $59.99 for my Izvehsk(sp?) made in 1940 in 2009.

I bought a bunch of M-44's from Century @ 7 years ago.
They were "U-Fixems" for $15 each,+ $2 fee.
Worst was a cracked stock,one missing front sight globe,most were missing rods.
Then I got a "5-fer" deal of "in the wraps" for $200.
Then IO had a special on M-44's for $40 shipped.

You can never have enough MN's.

Well the best price I ever got on a MN was 75 dollars.

It was actually a mismarked Lee Enfield No 4 Mk 1. I would never have bought a MN.

It was one heck of a deal on a Lee Enfield though.

Then they turned me down for a job. Some people.....

Well, as a matter of fact I bought 2 Chinese T53's for $35 each about 3 years ago. They weren't pretty, but fully functional. I used them to practice my (ahem ) gunsmithing. If I ever need a MN parts gun, BINGO.
