I have about 6 firearms I am going to part with. I am not looking for money to pay the bills, but rather to buy other arms I might shoot/enjoy more. I guess at heart I am not into "collecting" multiple arms that I can't find a use for or I am getting little enjoyment out of. Whats the best way to sell? I get rap--ed at my local shop for trade in. He does consignment, but minim is $50 fee. FTF seems the best, but who wants to put up a classified in the local paper. I could gunbroker, and I guess I am willing to take the chance that something might go for less than what I would like it too, but auctions always seem a pita. What do you do with your weapons you find no longer suit your needs or wants? I don't seem to ever, or rarely make a profit on one, that seems to be more dependent on whether or not I got a good deal on it when purchased.

There is a classified add site for just firearms in our state. Maybe someone has created something like this in your state. I will say though, I like the local classified papers better. I'd check into those. There often are ones that let you list an add for free. You can also post them on sights like this and similar. BTW what guns do you have for sale? Someone here might be interested.

I use a local weekly shopper paper or place an ad here on this forum in the gun classifieds.
I do not have an FFL but I have sold a few handguns on gunbroker.com too.

I have bought and sold a few guns here on the THR. Have always dealt with pretty good folks.
1. Research prices for the guns you are wanting to sell.
2. Be willing to take less than what they are worth.
3. Realize it does not cost $50 to ship a gun. To many people have looked at ebay where it cost $50 to ship a cracker jacks prize.
4. Provide accurate pictures of what you are selling and a detailed description of any defects or flaws.
5. Set your terms ( I will accept a postal money order or certified cashiers check
6. Ship the gun as soon as you receive funds
7. Maintain good communication throughout transaction and keep records

You can place your gun on GunBroker.com and either set a "beginning price" of the lowest price that you'd be happy with or have a $0.99 starting price with a "Reserve price" that you'd be, again, happy with. Their fees are reasonable and listing your gun is easy and PITA-free.

Buxom girls in bikinis. They can sell a man anything

Yep have one follow you around at the next gun show carrying them, and you'll get all the buyers you want. Or at least a ton of lookers.:evil::evil:

generally locally, because you have to figure that the shipping is going to kill a bit of the price, say 30 for shipping and 20 for transfer.

Take a S&W Sigma, saw a good price of 240, well add 50, and you are at 290, and that is close to what one goes new after the rebate.

D Boone what state are you in ??? There's a website with my state's name in it that's basically like Craigslist for guns .. and allows for FTF to save the FFL fees if you want, and no cost to place an ad ..

If I were selling, it would there there, and on here in the Trading Post ..

Hey guys, in NC, I have a Marlin 512, 2 Moisons, and M38 ad M44. Wasr unlderfolder, Marlin 7000, and a AR-7 Israeli variant. Unfortunately it had been loved previously, and the powder coating was chipping, so I did a krylon camo over it. Also thinking about selling a norinco M14. When I get some prices to them I will post over in classified before I try gunbroker. Thanks

Gunbroker ...

I've been using them for over 10 years for buying and selling for the same reasons as yours.

Most of the different forums have W.T.S. section, have you attempted any of these?
Private party sales of any item have become overly complex of late.

I can't believe that a website like that has been out there for who knows how long and this is the first I've heard about it :what:. God bless you guys.

i've had ok luck on thr classifieds, and tremendous luck on 24 hour campfire's classifieds. you have to tailor to your audience. nice bolt rifles sell great at 24hcf. shotguns, ak's, and savage bolt guns sell great here. i haven't sold any handguns in a long time, so no help there.

these different boards have a different feel, and it really depends what you're selling.
