I woke up this morning and my wife gave me a wrapped box. I was pretty pleased when I unwrapped it to see what was inside:

Bark River Bravo 1, black with the moon glow spacer, with my name and the year on it. I obviously haven't used it much yet but it came shaving sharp and feels great in my hand. Can't wait to take it out and see what it can do.

It took my family a few years, but now they know a gun or knife is a perfect present for me.

Wow you're going to have to really step it up a notch when your wife's birthday comes around. Congrats on a having a great wife and for her giving you such a fantastic gift. A very nice knife indeed. Enjoy.

oh hell yea!!! that's a pretty cool and special gift to get from a wife. yea, a Bark River is freakin awesome. a client sent one to me, to have a sheath made, and i had trouble setting it down. you're correct, they do feel perfect in the hand. i dig the stripe on yours, makes it a litte different. congratuations!

My Bravo-1 is my "Go To" woods knife for hiking, camping, etc. Its a rock solid, well made knife and Mike Stewart and BRKT stand behind their products.

That is beautiful. Kudos to your wife!

I got to play with it a little over the weekend, just doing some random cutting and making a few fuzz sticks. The knife worked great and is still as sharp as new.

Would I be correct to assume that the spacer glows in the dark after exposure to light?

That is correct. Very bright too. I haven't played with much "glow-in-the-dark" stuff since I was little, but things have come a long way. I woke up to use the restroom a few nights ago at about 2 and that stripe was still glowing bright.

makes me think of Chopin Polish vodka, named after the composer.

Our house is well stocked with the stuff :D In the past 3-5 years there has definitely been a change when people see my credit card or ID. They used to say "Oh, like the composer?" Now more often than not I hear "Oh, like the vodka?"

That's awesome that the insert glows so well! Bark Rivers are very addictive. The first one I bought was a Bravo-1, which led to a Mini-Northstar, followed by a Colonial Patch, then finally with the Liten Bror (x2).

The Bravo is one tough knife. I consider it to be one of the best Survival knives available. I am also VERY impressed with the Liten Bror. It is lighter and much easier to carry around than the Bravo-1, but it can tackle some pretty big jobs as well.

Good luck fighting the urge to buy more Barkies! :D

If my wife got me that on my bday I'd double marry her...if that's possible. Gotta love the Bark River stuff and especially the Bravo-1.
