Springfield XD45 Reliability?

hitting the dirt in front of the target

How far away is the target and do your shots hit the dirt in front of the target when you shoot right handed also?

I don't have a ton of pistol expierence, but here's my take on things...

Couple days ago I bought my first pistol, an XD9. My first mag through, and with my horrible aim (haven't shot in a good 4 years as well) at 30ish feet I was hitting center mass easily and reliably with all 16 shells.

As a plinking gun, I absolutely adore it. It shoots predictably and reliably. Everything I've heard was either praise or someone spouting about how their Glock is better. Would I trust my life with this firearm? Hell yes, in a second.

my left hand just sucks for shooting. im usualy about 10 to 25 yards away from target. i usualy target shoot at a spinner type target or clays that are on the ground. my right hand shooting is ok. just left hand is bad. i have shot other handguns including revolvers and still have a weak left hand. the best way i can describe it. when i squeeze the trigger, it makes my left hand point barrel at the ground.

I have a 4" Bi-tone. The XD is my first full size 45 and I love it. I think the accuracy is outstanding and I have yet to have a malfunction in ~1k rounds of factory ammunition. Mine refuses to eat my LSWC reloads so I will be stocking up on some LRN or TC bullets instead. I can't recommend the gun highly enough.

i have a xd 45 and can consistently shoot a 3 inch group at 45 feet without a problem. have had many friends that do the same after shooting a few rounds throuh it. pumped alotta different ammo through mine and haven't had a single hiccup

Top notch reliability, as good as anything out there. Reliability should be your last concern when buying an xd.

My father purchaced the XD45 tactical, all black.......looks like a glock!!!
Fires reliably with any ammo .....bout 600 rounds of various ammo to be exact.
The gun has a tendency to shoot low, even at 10' away from the target!!!!
I personally dont like the gun, neither does he..... I dont want to brag but with my glock its so accurate, even with cheap winchester, can hit a 5" target 75m away. I couldn't hit a 5" target 10' away with the XD.
The gun at best would be ok if your going to have a fire fight in the 10'-20' range.
And hope like heck you dont shoot him in the foot!!! LOL

GLOCK RULES!

I have the complete opposite experience. This pic is from yesterday at 10 yards x 13 rounds.

have about 4k through my compact and I have actually never had a single stove pipe or hiccup with it. === my favorite pistol.

I have never had it limp wrist, but then again I have never tried to lol. As to ammo, mine has seen fmj, and hollowpoint in whatever brand walmart usually has and not been able to tell the difference. bullet wise, I have loaded magtech fmj, hornady xtps, gold dots, and and sierra hps and never had a problem either.

works just fine for me.

Just got an XD45 Compact, and it's been dead nuts reliable, and gives me cloverleafs at 7 yards if I do my part. I think the sights are set for a 6 o'clock (lollipop) hold, since if I cover the target I hit 3-4" high at 15 yards, but it's right on if I "dot the i".

Edit: Dang, this thread is almost four years old! Oops.

my xd45 was a jamming POS

poor accuracy that worsened the hotter the barrel got too. worst purchase i ever made. sold it at $200 loss after 700 rounds of ftf, and fte probs.

get either an m&p or glock.

full metal jacket, you got a lemon. what you experienced is very far from the norm. springfield has good customer service, though -- why didn't you just send it back? they'd have made it right.

Had my FIRST ftf the other day in my XD45T (after probably 3000 rnds, a handloaded swc [go figure]). This was on trying to load the first round by letting the slide go. It would run those swc's though if the first one touched off.

I was chasing a can all over the berm with it! Definitely a 6-o'clock sight picture with the XD (manuals say as much as well).

Have an XD .45, 4" full size for about two years now with zero issues. Also have an XD .40 sc, about 4 years old, also zero issues.
