Range Brass

I have never paid over $50 per 1000 delivered, and that was cleaned, so you can judge from that.

I bought 2000 rounds of 40 S&W once fired range pick-up for $55.

There is an old retired guy (old, but he can still outshoot me) that picks up all the range brass at our club with one of those nut gathering baskets and sells 1200 .40 S&W cases (that is what fits in the containers he uses) for $32.50. That is $27 a thousand. That is the cheapest I have found so far.

I've been selling .40 S&W range brass for $2.00 a pound, plus shipping in a Flat Rate Box. The .40 brass is about 10 pounds per thousand, and the current scrap brass price in my area is $1.70 a pound. I charge a little extra over the scrap price for all the hours I spend sorting it out from the other calibers and all those #@#* .22 LR cases I paid for when I bought it............

Know what your paying for

If you are intending purchase uninspected range brass, without a doubt from various manufacturers, I would not pay over 30 dollars per 1000. You don't know for sure from what type of weapon the round was fired, so you will spend some time looking them over carefully. Your time is worth money, and I am going to assume that you don't have a death wish.

I have to agree with simonriece ....... I wouldn't give $30 /1000 for unsorted cleaned brass that is the average price at the Inventory reduction sales at this quote

Have you checked down in The Trading Post?

You can usually get good deals there and if nothing else you can see what the going rate is on some stuff.

Personally, I only fire brass with a known history. I'm sure anything grabbed at the range is probably once-fired, but my range sells factory-reloads. I'm sure I'm unduly paranoid, but it is a slight piece of mind for me. YMMV.

All my brass was fired (New) in my weapons, So I know the history ; )
