New to the High Road. I live in the Texas hill country and I've been lurking here for a while. Seems like a great place.

My name is Kent. I am a 9 year Navy vet and then worked for the Army in small arms for 22 years. Don't think I have a lot of expertise however, because at the HQ small arms meant anything less than 81mm. I was on the large end of small arms.

I come from a gun family. My Dad was a Navy gunners mate and my youngest brother has a second house just for his guns Well, not quite but it seems like it.

I have a ParaOrd 12.45 LDA, a Walther P22, a PPK knockoff in .380 a Beretta Bobcat a 22 varmint rifle and a New England Arms 12 gauge. My Springfield .40 cal XD gets here next week. I am drooling while I wait). A whole bunch of paper is going to get shot next week.

New guy here....

Hello everyone,

Ive never ever joined a firearms forum before, however after recently venturing to this site for information regarding opinions/problems/comments on a pistol i was looking to purchase, i found the site extremely informative and the people very friendly.

My name is Dan and im currently in school. Recently purchased my first handgun, a Taurus 24/7 Pro DS 9mm. I love the gun, i have small hands and it fits in my hand perfectly. People talk about the trigger and the heavy pull, as this is my first handgun, i am very used to it and does not bother me. I put 100 rounds through it yesterday and it was FLAWLESS besides a few times where the slide did not lock back (assuming im limp wristing, holding the release button or the cheap WWB 115 grain i was shooting). Anyway, if you guys who own this gun or who have owned can provide me with any guidance or tips for this pistol it would be great.

As far as everyone else, A simple Hi, is all.

Have a great day everyone,

Dan

Shores of Lake Erie

Hello to all from the north shore.... I recently found this forum while looking at the GunTalkTV links and found the THR forums. I am currently trying to get into the gun culture/business after 30 years in the building material world. I recently have gotten my Conceal Handgun License in Ohio, and my non resident permit from PA. and am a GLOCK certified armorer and my ROS certification from the NRA is being processed as I type this message. Soooooooooooo I hope with some additional effort om my part I hope to get a position in NE Ohio in guns in some way soon. My most recent acquisition is the reason I ended up coming to this forum, it is a Mossberg 835 shotgun. Never owned one and now need to learn all I can about them so I can be proficient in home defense with it. Anyway that's my story and I'm sticking to it.......:)

Howdy all.

My interest in firearms is for self defense, hunting and sport shooting. i only ahve a 22 cal right now but have friends that are gun nuts with a pretty good collection so i get my fix through them. within the next year i am looking to but an ak 47 and or ak 74 (cheap plinker and WROL rifle) marlin 30 30 for hunting, a ruger 10-22 for squirells and fun, and after i get my permit a ruger LCP 380 and a Glock or S and W map in 40 or 45 cal.

Hey all, figured since I had a few post on here best to introduce myself. Live in San Antonio, Texas, been shooting since I can remember, US Army Vet., I also organize and run Texas Gun Owner meets for this city. Basically an informal family freidnly gathering of shooters both seasoned and new who get togther monthly to try new weapons, and learn from more experienced shooters. Just started reloading, just loaded and fired my first 500 rounds off the press. Have a few longuns, a 9mm handgun, and a newly aquired Uzi carbine which is definetly alot of fun. Anyone in Texas interested in our get togethers shoot me a PM .

I live in NJ - weapons enthusiast and I try to study deception and body language, in my own time, while being a student (CJ/Forensic Psych). I have been denied for my permits in NJ, due to terrible legislation - I will get them eventually. I still try my best to stay sharp at ranges in Pa., which rent out guns. I have my eye on the Ruger sr9c, Glock 23, and one of the SIG's.

Hello

I am a US infantry veteran where I served in one of the original Stryker units, was an SDM and later an instructor. Studied mathematics afterwards, and worked for several years (before the military and some after) in security (alarm systems). I am partially disabled, difficult to work anymore, but I get by.

An interesting note: I joined the army in spring of 2001. I completed infantry training at Ft. Benning in September, and walked the parade field on September (12 or 13 --I forget) making us the first post 9-11 soldiers. I'll never forget standing and waiting for our CSM inspection, when it happened. Surreal doesn't quite capture the moment.

I like math, science, art, oil painting in particular, and of course shooting. I like to go to the mountains and enjoy growing my own vegetables and fruit. I like hiking, but it doesn't like me anymore (not to the degree I used to).

Hi guys. My name is David, I live in the mountains of western Maine. I started collecting guns a few years back and I'm on the road to starting a gun business hopefully in the next 2 years or so. I'm a big fan of military mausers and anything AR or AK related.

Greetings from across the pond.

Hello all.
I am a young man from Denmark, northern Europe (Scandinavia)
I have been searching this forum dozens of times, when looking for info on U.S firearms. Finally i got around to signing up.
The gun scene in the U.S. is of course a lot bigger than in DK, and i figured the amount of user experience should not be missed.
Im looking forward to asking lots of questions, on guns that i find a bit "exotic" but you guys might see as common everyday guns.

please feel free to ask any questions you migth have on the danish gun/hunting scene. I am currently an intern at a local hunting shop, so i will have a fair chance to do a bit of groping/research on the firearms beeing traded this winter.:D

new member

Hi there. I just joined this website. I love buying, trading and testing new guns and rifles. I enjoy the exchanging as much as I do the shooting at the range. I stick mostly to .22 caliber, since they are inexpensive to shoot. It's nice to spend .04/shot as compared to .30, .40, .50 and Up. LOL.

Great Forum

Also an FNG from San Diego, CA. Police Officer for over 15 years. Great tech stuff on this site. Have collected a few firearms over the years including 30.06, Remington 870, .223, .38 cal, 9mm, several .22 cal, an SKS, and my duty sidearm is a Colt Series-70 which I had NP3 finished almost fifteen years ago. Like the reloading info also. Thanx.

Hi everyone. Just joined this fine site but have refereed to it for info many times. Just figured id give back some info if i can. I have many guns in my gun cabinet of all shapes and sizes with more being added all the time. Hope to get to know many of you :D

P.P.I. 22/380 Pocket Pal

Hello my name is Standly and I have a friend that has a 22/380
I am looking for a 22 cal, cylinder for a 22/380 Pocket Pal P.P.I.
The gun was made in Ducktown, TN. (date unknown) but on the handle it has the name of cobray, How old is it ? Does anyone know ?
By the markings on the gun it looks as if the mold was made out of sand as it has the looks of sand pits in it.
The 380 cylinder is a 3 shot and from what I have gathered so far the 22 cylinder is a 5 shot.
I can be contacted at [email protected]
THANKS

[I had nothing to do with me being here----BUT I have everything to do with WHO or WHAT I am]
{Never more quote the Raven never more....But he sure did a lot of talking looking down the bore of my deadly 44}

New Guy

Hello Folks, My name is Joe and I live in North Central Texas. I'm an avid hunter and sportsman that loves the outdoors. I'm 55 and got my first gun at age 6, thanks to my Grandad. I still own the .22 he gave me. My new favorite is a 1973 Rem 600 Mohawk .222 that I just purchased from a buddy. My other fav is my Ruger Bearcat .22 given to me by my Dad. I like the smaller caliber guns for varmints like my 204 Ruger or my Marlin .22 mag. I have an Argentine 30-06 Mauser for bigger things and a Winchester M70 .300 WSM for great bigger things or coyotes at 300+ yards. I hope to take the Mohawk this weekend to the Texas Hill Country and shoot some pigs we are over ridden with this year. We have so many darn varmint pork I can use them to sight this puppy in with.

Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours! Be safe

New To The HIGHROAD.org

Hi! My name is Red. I live in Southeast Oklahoma. I like to hunt (deer mostly) and fish. I hunt with a bow, muzzle loader, rifles, and pistols. But my greatest passion is reloading. I load for a number of rifle calibers and a couple of pistols. I reload primarily for myself, but I also reload for a few friends and relatives. I particularly enjoy working up new loads and trying new powder and bullet combinations. I am much more concerned with accuracy than velocity, although I may choose a deer hunting load that has a bit more velocity with slightly enlarged groups. My two favorite calibers to load for are the .257 Wby Mag and the .243 Win. I really like my .243 for which I have found good shooting loads from 58 grain to 90 grain bullets. I have also developed low velocity and high velocity loads for it. I like the .257 for it's long range and flat shooting characteristics. My two most challenging rifles to load for are a Ruger 7mm Mag and a New England Handi Rifle in .30-06 caliber. I haven't been able to get any really good grouping loads for either of these--but I'm confident I will. I'm very much looking forward to what I can learn from these forums.

Hey,

I'm a new member (hence my reply to this thread). I've been shooting for a couple of years but have really gotten into handguns over the last year and a half. I just completed my CCW course here in MN.
I'm a firm believer in individual liberty supporting free markets and free minds. I shot my Kimber Eclipse Target II to qualify for the CCW but will most likely carry my Taurus 709 slim. Anyone else carry the 709?

Along with many of the other posters I'd like to sat that this is a great site and I've been reading it for a while and feel comfortable enough with the crew to start posting.
