Hey guys, new poster here. I was hoping I could get a little advice in dealing with the people at Samcoglobal.com, as I've read some of you have already done business with them.

Last Thursday I ordered a Yugo SKS from them and then went ahead and arranged for FFL transfer with a gun shop near me here in Hialeah Florida. It was only a day later that I realized that I had inadvertently entered my own home address as the shipping address instead of the gun shop with whom I arranged the FFL transfer. Now, I have dealt with the lady at customer service before and she's a royal pain in the ass. She doesn't seem to enjoy her job at all and tries to get rid of you as soon as possible. No help whatsoever.

Now the thing is, I actually live pretty close to them (about 10 min drive) and I was wondering if I could just show up to their warehouse, or whatever and try to get maybe a manager to correct the order? Has anyone here actually been to this place in person? I've read alot of posts on this forum and others about experiences with this very same customer service rep and she doesn't seem very responsible at all.

It won't matter. They have to get a copy of your FFL's license. They can only ship to the premises address on the license.

If you're in the same state, why not call up Samco and ask if they can do the transfer to you? If not, I call them up and explain the mistake to avoid confusion when they get your ffl's license.

as long as they have the ffl and they have to, it wouldn't be any different then picking it up at the other place. they would just do the background check and paper work there.

So you mean I could just pay for FFL and background check there even if it is only a wholesale place? Forgive my ignorance. This is my first time ordering a rifle online.

So far as the law's concerned, an FFL-licensed distributor or manufacturer can deliver a firearm to an individual as long as the individual lives in the same state. Of course the seller has to comply with all the requirements such as a 4473 form, background check, etc - as well as any state or local laws or regulations.

But if they want to, the licensed distributor or manufacturer can as a matter of policy, refuse to make direct sales.

Give the seller a call and see what they say.

hiphowitzer ....They can only ship to the premises address on the license.
Wrong.
There is no Federal law or ATF regulation that requires this.

Per ATF, a firearm can be shipped to the premises address, mailing address or any address the receiving dealer uses:
http://www.atf.gov/publications/newsletters/ffl/ffl-newsletter-2006-03.pdf

Q. Can an FFL ship a firearm to an address
that is different from the business
premises address identified on the
license?

Yes. Neither the GCA nor its implementing
regulations contain specific provisions,
requiring that an FFL have firearms shipped
to their licensed business premises when
receiving firearms. To that end, an FFL may
lawfully receive firearms at their mailing
address, storage location, or other address
where the licensee intends to ensure safe
and secure receipt of the firearms.

ATF Industry Circular 74-13 outlines
“Guidelines for Verifying Identity and
Licensed Status of Transferee.” It states, in
part, that “when the shipment is to be made
to an address other than the transferee’s
premises as listed on his or her license or on
his or her certified list, it is suggested that
the transferor verify the address as being
that of the transferee.” Furthermore,
pursuant to section 922 (b) of the GCA, it is
unlawful to ship a firearm interstate to an
unlicensed individual.

We encourage that FFLs verify to the best of
their ability that the shipping address is a
valid location where the licensee is prepared
to receive and subsequently possess the
firearms. In addition, if an FFL has customers
that require frequent delivery of firearms to
an address other than their licensed business
premises, we recommend that the shipping
address be placed on file with ATF’s Federal
Firearms Licensing Center (FFLC) as an
additional mailing address.

It should be noted that any FFL receiving
firearms at locations other than their
licensed premises must maintain accurate
records of acquisition and disposition of
firearms. The acquisition of firearms must be
recorded by the close of the following
business day or, if commercial records are
maintained, within 7 days following the
acquisition (See 27 CFR 478.125(e) and (g)).
In the event of an ATF compliance
inspection, the FFL must make all records
and firearms inventory available for
inspection. In addition, if the location is
used as a continuous off-site storage facility,
the FFL must notify the FFLC so that the
address can be placed on file.

I guess I'll just head on down tomorrow and show up in person. There must be some kind of manager or someone in charge besides that lady in customer service who keeps saying she doesn't handle internet orders. If worse comes to worse, I'll just cancel the damned order and get myself a CZ-82 from aimsurplus while the FFL is still good. Thanks for all the replies guys.

Take chocolate and a big smile and see if you can fix the problem with customer service?
starnger things have happened in the past....

Yeah, I've never picked up from a wholesale distributor either, but I figure it'd be worth asking about their licensing and whether they're able and willing to do the transfer. Bringing a box of donuts or something might not be a bad idea...

Man, if I lived within a 10 min drive of Samco or any others, I'd have no money left for gas! But I could walk!:evil::evil:

your first mistake was buying anything from SAMCO.....they have horrible customer service

Well, I payed samco a visit today and the customer service lady turned out to be a lot nicer in person than she is over the phone. I told her about the mistake with the shipping address and she told me that the chica in charge of internet orders wasn't in but that she'd relay the info to her. She also said the order would probably be processed by the end of the week. Probably  Waiting sucks.

Sadly, I didn't get a look of the inventory with the exception of a couple of rifles (couldn't really make out what they were) laying against the wall in the front office. I asked about picking up the rifle from the warehouse and I was told "no, you pick up at dealer". I can't help but wonder how much they're going to charge me for shipping. The gun shop that it's going to be shipped to is about a 15-20 min drive away from the warehouse.
