The 1911 will soon be officially 100 years old. I wonder if sales will go up in 2011? Probably be some anniversary editions in the offering and maybe a good time to be in the 1911 making business.

Do you have any 100 year plans, i.e. purchase, etc.?

I put a DW Valor on layaway but will probably pick it up before 2011.

I am thinking I will take it to the range for the first time on 1/1/11. That's if I can be that patient.

I'll definitely buy one. I'll probably save up throughout the year to make sure that the one I do buy is special.

i doubt that one will fly by the wife. i'm trying to get another one before 2011 but beings that i just bought my first one about a month ago i doubt i can justify it. i bet sales do increase though.

S&W might have something in the mix. One of their customer service reps inferred that their R&D department was "considering several things" for the anniversary. Nothing has been announced, however.

I plan on getting a SW1911 next year.

a 1911 and a makarov are the only guns i'll be trying to procure next year...picking a 1911 is gonna be a b**** tho!

Supposedly new "Enhanced Series" of Smith & Wesson SW1911's to be announced soon:

These are the model numbers posted over at the S&W forum:
108483 45 ESER 4.25 MEL
108485 45 ESER 4.25 SC 2TN
108482 45 ESER 5 8R SS
108495 45 ESER 5 CT 8R SS
108409 45 ESER 5 RAIL MEL
108411 45 ESER 5 RAIL 2TN

Speculation as to Acronyms: MEL=Melonite, SC=Scandium, 2TN=Two Tone, CT Crimson Trace.

Thanks be to Novalty for spreading the word..

I blew my wad this year, I very much doubt I'll be buying anything next year. What the heck, I just bought 2 1911s this month! :D
It's amazing, 100yrs. and still going strong. JMB would be proud!! :)

I was looking at an Ed Brown Executive Elite Centennial Edition the other day. $2400+. Tru-ivory grips, JMB serial number, etc.

Nice gun I do believe.

JohnBT,

I'm sorry man, I truly didn't mean for my juicy drool to run all over your Centennial, and all over your alligator profile book, hope it wipes off easy... sorry!:cuss:

It will be alive and well in another 100 yrs possum, unless we invent a death ray or something cool like that. :)
