Machine Gun Helicopter Rides?

Hi all,

I was wondering if I could invoke the wisdom of my fellow THR members in answering a question.

Was there ever, or is there now, a company or provider that offers a helicopter ride over a designated range area where you are permitted to fire from a machine gun at ground targets (like junk cars, and things like that)?

I apologize in advance if my question sounds naive, but my internet searching has revealed a few hits, but nothing really currently available. If I recall, something like this was offered once at Knob Creek during their machine gun shoot, but I can't seem to find anything further.

The reason I'm asking is I'm planning a bachelor party for some time in mid-late June and I think the groom would have a blast.

Thanks for any help you all could provide!

in war men got paid a little and shot at all too much.

now you want to make the experience a +E+ ride.:uhoh:

short of comping him a space plane ride i'm thinking you are a great friend.
good luck finding a place though:D

I've done this at taxpayer expense.

Shooting from a helo requires one to use a large quantity of ammo. It is much, much more practical shooting belt fed weapons. Something you might want to consider.

Nearly nothing compares to the fun of hangin' and bangin' from a helicopter.

I am going from memory here, and a vague one at that. I think Mike Dillon, the owner of Dillon Precision (of progressive reloader fame) may have done this. It is not a regular service and may have been a private gathering with friends of his. It can't hurt to ask. https://www.dillonprecision.com/#/contact_us.html

Good luck. It sounds like fun, but personally I would be too busy trying to keep my lunch down to do any shooting. :D

Thunder Ranch was offering a class in shooting an AR from a helicopter a few years ago. It was pricey. I don't think they offer it anymore, but check with them to make sure.

When I attended Knob Creek in 2008, the shooting from a helicopter had already been discontinued. You can still pay for a chopper experience, but you're just going along for the ride.
Seems like only yesterday, but the "Gunny" actually shot that History Channel piece in 2006.

I think Magpul Dynamics has a course that includes firing from a helicopter - I remember seeing a promo for it on their Art of the Dynamic Handgun DVD set.

I have seen on TV that the Russia military offers rides in their fighter jets for those that can afford the cost (billionaires). Bet they would be willing to let you shoot off anything you wanted short of a nuke for the right price.
