Is it my imagination, or does Taurus make something like a gazillion different models of guns. I gave up years ago trying to keep up with all their models and recently looked at their product line again and it's just as confusing as ever. I went looking for info on a new model I saw in a magazine, model 800 I think, but I gave up looking.

Besides the 92, or whatever Taurus calls their Beretta 92 copy, are there any other Taurus models that have been manufactured for years.

When I cruise the Taurus website, it seems to have about the same overwhelming quantity of models of the S&W website. So many guns, so little money.

Yeah taurus whats your problem dont bite on wilson combat like that
or nighthawk... or smith... or sig... etc

yes taurus has a good number of models but they tend to at least make it make sence a little

they offer hammered, striker fired,DA/SA pistols then they have a full size of each of those a mid size and a compact then you break it down into each caliber then each color

its really not that bad to have choices

there are some companies that only offer one design of pistol like nighthawk (1911) but they have something like 23 different "models?!?!"

at least taurus has a legit reason for so much diversity

as far as longevity non of the pistols have been made for years except the 92 knockoff and the tilt up barreled models the rest are pretty new additions

the revolver line has had a few long runners like the raging bull and the tracker series

the model 800 should be pretty easy to find they have been pushing it for a while

Heres the 9mm

Your question should be: "Can't gun buyers make up their minds?"

Manufacturers don't spend time setting up tooling for a gun and producing it on a whim. There is alot of back room planning before the gun hits the market and it is there because they feel that someone will buy it and the comany will make money on it.

Look for the thread of "guns you wish were in production"... There is no shortage of additional guns that we buyers wish were made.

Taurus covers all theri bases well, if you cant find a taurus pistol to suite your needs or desires, then you dont really want a gun in the first place.

i support diversity. i went to bass pro shops yesterday to hold as many pistols as i could to determine my route for CCW. And yes, there were a ton of taurus models available to fondle.

Jack of all trades master of none.... Taurus is a volume manufacturer they have to have a ton of models to appeal to enough people to make a profit.

I have a couple of great older taurus's but there site is like looking at s&w's web site also. Just to darn many. trim it down and get QC back up. That goes for both of them. They do still make the 85 and 94 and thats what i have.

Taurus Models

Yup Kymasabe, Taurus makes a model for just about anybody for just about any kind a shooting you want. I happen to like that in a gun manufacture.

The problem is that they list ALL of the pistols the offer as different pistols, instead of listing options. Look at the large frame autos. The first page has 12 different models listed, the differences in them? At a glance, light rail, finish, grips, sights... Looking closer at the first two pistols, the difference is just in the magazine. The 100B comes with a ten round magazine, the 100B-11 comes with an 11 round magazine.

I could understand listing the different part number for the adjustable sight models (the 101B and 101B-11 are the same pistols mentioned above, with adjustable sights), but changing the capacity to 11+1* could cut the page down to half a dozen similar pistols. But if they do that, it wont seem like they offer as much...

I'm just glad they made a cheaper alternative vs. glock (PT145). I'm loving mine.

I like that Taurus offers a wide variety of choices. It's nice when a company caters to its individual customers rather than just broad market trends.

Yup, that's what happens when a company (or person) tries to be everything to everyone. They usually manage to demonstrate how inept they are at it. In Taurus' case, lots of good looking inexpensive guns that have questionable quality control standards.

I am by far not a Taurus basher. I own a 1/2 dozen of their revolvers. They're ok shooters and I do trust my life to them. However between what I've experienced (up through 2009) and read on their semis - well...

Too bad their stuff is crap, all of it.
You mean my 6 flawless Taurus's are all crap? Thanks for letting me know, well, I guess I'll have to get rid of them. Opinions are like... you know the rest.

Trying to cater to a broad market.

I guess thats why my PT1911 has never jammed like those amazingly overbuilt $4000 1911

oh and my judge never fails to go bang either

statements like that make me sick... if YOU cant shoot it well doesnt make it junk

and unless your the QC at taurus telling us you let JUNK get past you dont make those comments

Just like S&W.

It helps if you know what you want to look at, then narrow it down.

I am partial to hammer fired, so have winowed it down to the PT911.

That gun has been made for quite some time, basically a modernized PT92, closed slide, light weight.
