Hi,

I'm primarily a fisherman who like to hunt and shoot. I like all guns. Currently shoot a Savage 110 in .308 for deer, have a TC smokepole for same, built a cap and ball wheel gun but never shot it, shotguns, .22s, pellet guns and just got my pistol permit so now I am shopping for my first real handgun. The first will probably be a revolver in 357 for hunting and HD, just not sure which one. Appreciate all the reviews and opinions I have read here so far.

hi

I am a new poster on this site, although I have been lurking here for quite some time.

I work in advertising in the firearms industry and I love handguns and bird hunting.

I find the discussions here rewarding and educational and I thoroughly enjoy bantering with fellow responsible gun owners.

I'm looking forward to posting here regularly!

Holiday greetings from Central Illinois. Pleasure to meet the place:)

3 sons, I'm getting back into the game after a 15 absence to firearms. Time to teach the boys how to hunt and shoot properly.

I am fairly equipped for the task, .410 - 12 gauge, .22's, .270 that is scoped. couple pistols.

Pleasure, off to the rifle forum to ask a question

Hey, I'm new. My name's Scott. I found your sight doing some bunny hunting research at work and some how The High Road worms its way through my companies no forum filters. Come to think of it THR may have something to do with my decreased productivity on the lot of late...
At any rate I'm a 23 year old engage car salesman, with a Ruger gp-100 for home defense. I just bought my Fiancee a 10/22 for bunny hunting (isn't it great finding a girl who wants to get out there?)
But despite living in the great Commonwealth of VA I have little to no practical firearms experience, so I'm here to listen, lurk and learn.

Finally joined

I have been to this forum many times before for answers and suggestions thanks to search engines. I figured it was about time I join in too. Feel free to call me Tubby, all of my friends and family do, strangely I prefer it over my real name. I'm a full time student that still can't decide what I want to be when I grow up and I'm thirty now! I own a DPMS AP4 carbine, Glock 17, Taurus PT945, Sig 522, and am in the process of buying a Mossberg 500 Persuader and researching the Rossi 851 revolver for purchase too. As soon as my wife opens up her new digital camera for Christmas I will steal it away and post some pics. I do have an older pic in the testing section already. It's great to be a member and part of this fine community!

HI, I'm Andrew, a new member from Kansas. Retired from the service with in in the Marine Corps and the Army. Just starting to get back into gun with two younger boys who are of hunting age. Still hunt with my father's old Savage model 340 30-30. I also have started getting the wife into handguns. She loves the Taurus Judge for HD.

Hello, I'm Shane from Alabama. I have been shooting in Highpower and CMP competitions since 2004. I am now a GSM instructor and have met some of the greatest group of people around while traveling to matches. I hope to keep having fun in this sport.

Howdy.
I'm Scott currently from Northern Illinois. I've been absent from the shooting sports for many years, but never lost my love for guns. Yes, I know I'm in the wrong state to be a gun person, but there are a few of us still around here in Illinois. I've been checking this site out for a couple of weeks, and seems like a good group of folks, so I thought I'd join in.

hello there folks! I have come across "THR" on several, several different occassions while researching various questions I have pertaining to firearms. I live in Idaho with the greatest gift the Almighty could ever bestow upon us, my family. I am absolutely addicted to all things gun...in fact, my wife grew a tad weary of my spending habits with guns and accessories. She said, "if you get a second job, you can use every single penny you earn on your gun stuff." Well, guess what happened two weeks later? Anyhow, I am excited to belong here as the forum seems simple to use and is well moderated. I am a member on AR15.com, but I rarely post there. I mostly enjoy rifles, though, I just purchased an XDM 9mm with the Trijicon night sights (whatta' beauty!). And as of this morning, I placed an order for a Savage 10fcp-k. Tomorrow, I am ordering an Evolution stock from XLR Industries. I am such a spoiled brat! Glad to meet you folks, look forward to chatting! Happy shooting!

Hi to all!
I am a new member from the deep south. I am a Nuclear Security officer and trained in defensive/offensive weapon tactics. While not working I enjoy spending time with the family on the farm and putting rounds down range on the back 40.
Hope to learn and share what I have learned here!

I have been an EE at Intel for a long time and I was put out to pasture in 2008 as they were cutting 11,000 jobs, all from U.S. Locations. I saw it coming though as I was in many locations around the world setting up new operations. At 56 I am too old to get a job doing what I was doing, luck for me I have an Air Force pension to keep me out of the unemployment lines. I have found all of this spare in the state of Arizona gives the unique opportunity to buy and carry a lot of guns, I even have a few with supressors so I can shoot roof rats in my back yard ( 250 yes from road and next house ). I enjoy making jewelry playing Pickle Ball ( old guys tennis ) hunting and fishing. Being new to retirement I would like to meet some new friends that like to take organized hunting and fishing trips, I went fishing in Isreal one time with a 45, what a trip, actually I was there on business and my friends over there took me. The White mountains have some great hunting opportunities.

Welcome to THR swc64844.

I have picked up more than a dozen of the AGI Tech Manual and Armorer's Course over the last few years and think they're great. I have no training as a gunsmith and these videos have walked me through step by step to tear down and reassemble all of my guns. They carefully explain how everything works and what the most common malfunctions are. Even get a couple minutes of the history behind the firearm and the designer. I enjoy understanding how my guns work and taking them apart as much as I do the shooting of them.

They are taught by Bob Dunlap, a retired instructor from the Lassen Community College gun smithing program. He's a little crusty but you can tell that he's explained things to hundreds of students and is a natural teacher. They're good at getting in close with the camera to show critical details.

For Ruger gun information nothing can beat RugerForum.com and also RugerForum.net. Also, Brownells has lots of technical info about guns.

The High Road is a great place to bring questions. Might take a day or two but almost always someone who knows what they're doing will come along and give an answer.

Not many read the new member forum so it would probably be useful to you to post in the specific forums to get good answers.

Good Luck to you and yours!

Howdy from gun country...TEXAS.

My stable is:
1
Winchester model 1906, .22 short gallery pump.
Remington 721, 22, bolt action
Remington 1187 12 gauge auto shotgun
Remington, 722 bolt action, .257 Roberts (1952 vintage)
Winchester Model 70 bolt action, .30-06 (1949 vintage)
Baby Desert Eagle 9mm w/ .41 AE barrel
Beretta 92FS 9mm.

Nothing new at all. I like the look of wood and steel...no plastic for me.

The two 9mm are loaded with hollow points for home defense...one on each end of the house and carry in the truck when we are out with the RV.

I used to shoot small bore indoor competition with a Remington 40X, but now just shoot for pleasure.

Hi everyone!

I am at the moment in ND, I am interested in all things firearm related, reloading, casting, hunting, archery, recently added an AR to the mix, and have expanded my specific research in that category, I have (and continue to ) studied in great depth about muzzleloaders and black powder weapons, and am very interested in ethics and responsibility issues as related to all of the above:scrutiny:.

I was once a fairly regular attendee and poster to the NAHC forums, as well as some others, but only recently have started posting again.

I have hunted in Florida, Utah, and North Dakota. Varmints are starting to pique my interest, and prairie dogs and coyotes are getting to be very interesting now.

I have also started taking photos of game in the wild as well, on occasions when I am unable to hunt (national parks, etc) and share photos in BBs as well, though I do wish to retain rights to them.

Hi everyone,

I'm Tamara and I'm from Michigan. I am fairly new to guns, but have been forced to learn by having my home broken into twice in less than a month. Apparently, I favor S&W because all of my guns are S&W.

I try to spend a lot of time at the range and I have been looking into classes to help make me a better shooter.

It is nice to meet you all!

Armed Liberal,

Yes, I have read Cornered Cat. I wish I had read it eight years ago when I bought my first gun based on the gun shop telling me that because I was a woman, I could only handle a revolver. And on top of that, I was putting .357mag ammo and the recoil has basically kept me from shooting with it. I just learned about using .38s instead...

Thanks for referring me to CC though!

Hello. My name is Marcus. I am a college student out here in W. Texas at Texas Tech University. I'm basically in love with guns, and I do my best to learn more and more about them everyday. First gun was a Maverick 88 12 gauge "security" shotgun, then moved on to a Remington 770(cheap-o rifle but it works great for me!), and I am about to purchase my first handgun, a XD subcompact in 9mm.

I've been reading through the site for a while now and have learned quite a lot!

Tamara, take a look at Front Sight. You can find them online. They are supposed to be a top notch training program, and cost is VERY reasonable (my two courses are $89 each, for four days each) if you look for the deals. They will send you emails with tips and other info too, just subscribe to the reports (free to do) and the firearm training class offers will come in pretty fast. The only snag is that you have to get yourself to the course, they are in Nevada, but there is no expiration on your attendance. I am considering going there as soon as I can scratch up enough side cash for my airfare (spouse and myself taking the 4 day defensive handgun course). From what I have heard elsewhere to date the courses are well worth it, but normally quite expensive.

Hello all,

I'm Daryl. I'm 56 and I've been shooting since I was a kid, but have just now started reloading, so I've been lurking here for a while. I've found the site to be very helpful, so I thought it was about time to join up.

I have a couple of old Browning A5s. 12 and 16 gauge, I nice old S&W model 36, a Charter Arms .44, and a Sig P226. I've had many others over the years, but made the sad mistake of selling a few I wish I'd kept. I plan on getting a P229 gen 2 soon, and I need to get myself a good rifle. There are so many fine guns I'd like, but only so much $$$$$ to spend.

I just got a Lee Classic Turret press, and I'm starting out by producing .38 Special revolver rounds. I got into it mostly so I could make ammo for my .44 Special since there is a limited selection of factory ammo in that caliber.

I'd like to thank you all for the help I've gotten here already in get equipped and started in reloading. I know there is a wealth of knowledge here.
