I used to love this place. They are just pricing themselves out of the market IMO. I wonder if their business is growing or shrinking? I just placed a large order with Natchez. They were cheaper on everything than Midway, not to mention that they had everything I wanted in stock, unlike Midway. I even have a CR-FFL on file with Midway. Am I the only one who notices/complains about this?:cuss: The sad thing is, I love Midway's website! I want to buy from them!:banghead: I am not a rich man, so I have to get the best value for my dollar.

Guess I end up sending them more money in a years time than I did twenty years ago.
But it is a much smaller portion of my "gun supply" budget.
Their shipping policy was a bigger factor to buy elsewhere than their prices.

I won't EVER pay separate shipping charges (to anyone) if they advertised something but didn't have it in stock.

I'm a big Midway fan but lately I'm finding that they're no longer carrying the items I want and that I can go elsewhere and get things cheaper.

I still buy a lot from them, but I'm spending more and more at other stores.

In case you were unaware, Midway is a RETAIL company; they sell things at RETAIL prices because they have to make a PROFIT.

If that bothers you, go elsewhere or open up your own business and undersell them and take their market share away from them

The only things I usually buy from Midway, are sale items. I do like their shipping, as you can choose USPS First class and save a little. I like Midways site too, total opposite from Natches!

Tso - you seems to have a need for a spate of spleen-venting with regards to MidwayUSA, since this is not your first thread in recent weeks on the topic. Let it go. Shop somewhere else if you need to.

Repeatedly bagging on a store because of their prices is simply not constructive.

They are quite spendy and get ya on the shipping too:fire:. They never have the 22 subsonic CCI ammo I want either as they keep pushing the backorder forward. I priced a magazine for my HK PSP with Midway and it was $73! I got one instead from Top Gun for $49.95 :).

Send them a letter with a copy of your Natchez receipt. Retail or not, they must compete to stay in business. Once loyalty gives way to common sense shopping elsewhere, they'll respond or lose market share, simple as that. Cabela's, Gander Mtn and Bass Pro Shops are all overpriced too, but they seem to expanding, not shrinking. Some people pay the premium for the service, some don't, simple as that.

I don't shop there if I can help it because everything I want always seems to be out of stock, so I go elsewhere.

Yep, they absolutely have the right to price themselves out of business.

I do not have any beef with Midway. I use them if they have what I want, if not I go elsewhere, ie. Brownells, Cheaper than dirt etc. Whoever has what I need at the lowest price. Sometimes paying an extra $10 bucks or $60 at the local family gun store is worth the extra money because you end up saving $$ buy not paying FFL fees, shipping or insurance for example. No store has my loyalty as I am a consumer and if they do not offer what I want you can easily find what you need elsewhere...THIS IS AMERICA!!

If you have a C&R you can get dealer pricing from them. Helps on somethings not on others. I check them vs others when looking for accessories. Sometimes they are winner other times losers even with the discount.

Have you run a Consumer Price Index comparison between 10 years ago and today? Google it sometime. (Or just try here: http://www.measuringworth.com/uscompare/ )

Think at least 25% increase across the board. And it's only begun to get bad as the Fed/Gov't accelerates pumping out borrowed money.

Bottom Line: Don't blame Midway

i can usually find the things i need a good bit cheaper at midway vs other stores listed in this thread. same day shipping is a big plus too. however, i dont claim loyalty to any one company. if i dont like the price i look elsewhere.

Actually, I love Midway. I love their shipping speed & website. I just wish they were a little more competitive in prices. I was just wondering if others felt the same way. I just can't understand how I can get "dealer" pricing and still cost more than Natchez and Cabelas. This is in no way a thread meant to bash them. I just wondered if I was the only one who noticed that they seem to be getting less competitive.

Their prices are a bit higher on some things, and lower on a very few things. They're average from what I've been seeing on most things. FWIW I just bought a 1911 extractor from them and it shipped to me damaged (damaged in manufacturing... the bluing was done after the damage occurred). Yay, 2 more weeks before I get my upgraded extractor after waiting 3 weeks already (dang holidays).

^^^ a fortunate minority.

Businesses are taxed on inventory at the end of their fiscal year, so a well-managed business will draw down inventory at that time.

Pehaps Natchez has stuff now because is they haven't sold as much as Midway, or their fiscal year does not end in December, or, or...

My order went to Midway ealier this evening. They had what I wanted and some it was deeply discounted... so they won't have to pay that inventory tax.

I have been a MidWay customer for many years. I do have a "dealer discount" with them and the amount it saves varies by item. I think MidWay has the best internet ordering interface but you are all correct, their prices are not the best on many items.

I normally look at my whole order and decide where to buy. I have bought stuff from the "N" store only to get my bill in the box and learn they tacked on an addition seven bucks or something "handling charge" in addition to shipping. Often this makes the total price actually be higher than MidWay.

In general I shop around. It is free enterprise and just as they are free to put any price on any item they want, I am free to go somewhere else to buy what I need. Its a two way street. So, I don't bitch too much about anyone, I just use my head, and my keyboard, and shop around for the best Bottom Line price.

I just love being able to order stuff from Midway on Monday night after work and have it waiting at the house when I get home on Wednesday.

Do they have the BEST prices? Not on everything; but I'd rather place one order with them than: one there, one on eBay, one on <insert site name>, ad infinitum. At least, so far, everything I've needed/wanted, they've had in stock and for decent prices.

I still buy some things from Midway because I have my C&R on file with them, but due to my close proximity to natchez I usually buy my ammo from them. Seems like everything I need latey is backordered on all of the websites though, I hope its because of holiday shopping :\

I stopped using Midway when they refused to re-activate my dealer's account because I did not have the word "gun" in my business name (by the way, neither do they).

Brownell's has no problem giving me "dealer" pricing, so they end up with what business would have gone to Midway, which is usually odds-and-ends type stuff, anyways.

I have other sources, such as RSR, Bill Hicks, Jerry's Sport Center, etc. that I get wholesale ammo, scopes and other stuff from.

I'll give two thumbs-up for Midway. They have the problems of any retailer involving keeping stuff in stock and hiring good people. They will ship quick if they have it. They keep stuff in stock that is hard to find sometimes, and their Discount section often has really good prices on stuff. Their prices aren't too bad especially compared to most local shops (Cabelas, are you listening??) however, as always, it pays to shop around for the best deal. Catalog is full of good stuff. I've never had a problem with them- either service before or after sale, or shipping, or prices- Natchez does have stuff cheaper sometimes- especially Lee items for example- and you can comparison shop all over the web to get the best deals.
