For those who are experience in these rifles, what is your opinion about the Miltech or Fulton Armory re-builds?

Thank you, and not off topic, I hope -

overpriced and unnecessary, buy a good GI carbine from CMP or gunshows, it'll have a historic value and most are good enough shooters.

Did anyone see the carbine on the forum clasifieds? It is mentioned here soley for price reference.

Well, I'd have to wonder how accurate that description is, the CMP didn't build carbines. It's listed as having a new USGI barrel, where that came from would be a question. You can get de-milled Winchester barrels from Fulton pretty cheap, I haven't see a new USGI barrel. You can get new production barrels, but they're not USGI. It lists a new stock, those are pretty cheap. He also doesn't list a maker, if it's USGI, that's pretty easy to find.

It might be legit, myself I wouldn't want a carbine with aftermarket optics on it. A price of $600.00 isn't a bad price, if the bore is pretty good, and there's all USGI parts in it.

I do not get terribly shook up over $800 for the Underwood. As I recall the Underwoods were $575 a few years ago at CMP. I bought one then. Fun shooting little carbine. At that time I reading how some folks were buying Inlands for $700-$800 at pawn shops. If it is in good shape, and not an import, I think the price reasonable. Offer him $750 and see what he says. It has a magazines and a sling to go with it. So I think the $800 quite reasonable., but you might get it cheaper

It sure sounds to me like when anyone, above, talks 'cheaper' they are pretty much meaning a hundred dollars or less, when you are already in the $800 range that is just over 10%.... how much time is one going to spend over a 10% difference? Some one has already pointed out the missmatched butt plate or what ever is worth $100 on its own... if you got the money and it's not going to break you and you want the dern thing... buy it.

i found a different m1 and now own it.

it is a cmp inland in very good shape. i purchased it from DBR and would recommend him to anyone. after my ffl, shipping, and purchasing a magazine i paid much less than that in my original post.

thanks everyone.
