How long will the powder be ok for in a Lee1000? I have not loaded for about 3 months and the powder has just been in the funnel the whole time. Should I just throw it out and start fresh? It's not that much but there is about 100 rounds of 9mm worth in there.

The powder should be fine, but leaving it in the hopper is a bad habit IMHO. One can forget which powder it is etc. Another problem can be it damaging the hopper. High nitro content powders can damage the plastic.

I always unload the hopper back into the powder container, as I use several different powders. If it is ALL you ever use, that's one thing, but I think I would still store it in the original container, that's just me.

You just made it, powder will last 2 1/2 months in a Lee "thrower."

Now, in an RCBS Uniflow measure it will last 3 weeks longer!

:D

IME any Alliant Pistol Powder (Bullseye and Unique are really bad) left in an RCBS Uniflow for an extended period of time will glue itself to the inside of the green plastic and is impossible to get out or off.

Just my .02,

Bullseye, Win 231 and 2400 have proven to be just fine for quite a while (more than a month) in the Lee Auto disk without anything but a little discoloration of the plastic.

If you only have one powder canister on the bench, it isn't poor loading practice to keep the powder in the hopper, nor will it hurt the powder. (Loading in a basement, not an unheated garage.)

Yea somehow I forgot it was in there. It's in my spare room so it's temp control but I don't have any in the disk only in the red plastic "hopper". I think I'll just throw it out and clean the press.
Thanks guys.

Good choice.

To keep it in perspective, The amount of powder was probably worth $1-$2. Easy to justify tossing it.

I always empty my thrower out at the end of each session. :)
