SP101 Picture Thread

Hey Klutch, i'm lookin to replace the sight on my SP101. is that a Hi Viz? how do you like it?

I love it! I think the pic is ok but when this thing gets some light on it, it glows.

I ended up doing the meprolight on mine. Its a bedroom gun so night time was key. That looks great for daytime shooting.

Its a custom job. I just wanted somthing differant. I did a 1911 the same way then sold it. I miss that gun.

I had the Meprolight on my last SP101 3". I just wanted something different since I put the Mepros on every gun I own.

I got the green but the have red also. You will have to have a gunsmith install it unless you're feeling squirly and want to try it. I installed mine but I have done it before, it has to be drilled for the roll pin but it goes on in 5 minutes.

thanks Klutch. i am going to get that one or a Mepro night sight. havent decided yet. i just picked up some Hornaday Custom 125gr XTP .357 hollow points. they say 1500fps at the muzzle. anyone have any experience with this load? how do they shoot?

Here's mine with two upgrades. First, the hogue grip which is great and can't be beat for $13. Second is the trijicon front sight. I believe trijicon has upgraded theirs since they first came out. Most reviews claim meprolight to be of higher quality. The original trijicon was a blade with a small amount of tritium and no white circle for daylight and dark targets. The one I received in the mail has a nice white dot surrounding the gas cylinder and is bright in low light. My only recommendation is to be careful if you're installing it yourself. You can probably see some of the tool marks on mine since I am not a pro by any stretch of the imagination. If it wasn't a workhorse, I would have had a gunsmith do it to keep it pretty.

Here is my Hamilton Bowen SP101

I simply love the revolver...He added sights, did and action job, and beveled the front of the cylinder. It shoots amazingly well and is a great gun to have along on my mountain hikes.

I added an XS Big Dot Sight and Hogue Monogrips. It shoots like a dream!

Fires magnum loads with absolutely no problem.

I carry it in a kydex/leather hybrid holster of my own making.

Anybody here know if the double action part of the SP-101 on either gun with hammer exposed or not exposed is as smooth as the new LCP Ruger +P .38 in DAO only?

They are, although that's not what I carry. I'm carrying 135gr 38+p Gold Dots right now. Thinking of switching back to 357. Also thinking very seriously about Badger Boot grips.
