Those of us who are above the age of 50 should drop the AARP if you are a member. And join the NRA instead. I have found the NRA discounts at some local stores (gun shops) to be quite substantial. Another reason for dropping your AARP membership is.... Those folks who use the AARP card to get a discount at motels. At AARP you get a 5% discount at most motels. The NRA membership card gets you a whopping 20% discount! I book my motels through "Choiceprivileges" 1-888-770-6800. It costs nothing to join and every so often you get a free room. Plus the 20% discount for the NRA card is sweet! The room I am in right now was $89.00, and with the NRA discount I paid $63.99 plus $5.12 state tax in Idaho, $69.43. That's 20 bucks in savings on just one night! That paid for the pizza we ordered in! We need to do business with those businesses that support our second amendment rights!

It would be nice if we had a list of major U.S corporations that supported our second amendment rights that we could do business with. AARP does not advertise it's anti-gun stance, so it is up to the individual member to research it and decide. But I sure like that 20% discount on my motels as opposed to 5%. I know this sounds like an advertisement but it's not. I just think that more of our members should belong no a firearms supporting organization. Plus the benefits of membership are great.

+1.
Don't forget the AARP supported Obama's healthcare. I shot a hole in
my AARP card and mailed it back in with the renewal notice!

AARP vs NRA

I joined AARP last year to put a end to the mailings and save a little on motels while touring on my motorcycle. I have since realized that they are nothing more than a marketing service for companies that want to target seniors. I was looking to change my cell service and checked into the company that does a full page every month in the AARP magazine. The worst reviews, I have ever found!

I joined the NRA yesterday because of supporting their stance on gun freedom and the special rate didn't hurt. Thanks for the heads up on the hotel discounts. I will look into that.

I just bought my first Glock last month. I think this sport along with the home safety is a winner. Later

Absolutely. Even if it saved zero dollars, it is just the right thing to do for gun rights. Put your dollars where your mouth is.

I belong to both. They each have some different benefits that the other doesn't. And, they both represent my interests, although I don't always agree with everything either of them say or do. Cost is negligible.

I don't see how any freedom loving American could ever join such an organization as the AARP. I know I never will.

AARP blew it several years ago when they named socialist radical Harry Belafonte their "Man of the Year" Give me a break.

I've read only good things about AMAC. My mother just joined the AARP for the health insurance connections, and I convinced her to try the AMAC insurance.

From what they advertise, AMAC stands for conservative values.

AARP is just like the teachers unions in substance and agenda. They're anti gun 100% of the time and only exist to permanently seek for more socialistic benefits for their members.

I like trex1310's idea of putting a bullet through your membership card and mailing it back. :D

I joined last year for the express purpose of getting health insurance. I was turned down for a pre-existing disease process. I canceled my membership! They do not stand up for seniors. They do prey on seniors by selling your name address to companies who sell products they think seniors would like. It is all financial.

AARP are a bunch of socialists. It's crazy to support such an organization.

I don't have much use for NRA either. GOA and JPFO are far better (although it remains to be seen what is happening with the latter, now that Zelman is gone).

The cards they keep sending me are great for scraping excess wax off my car. I'm trying AMAC.

I like there prices on Auto/Home Ins. I belong to both and get entirely too much junk mail from both. One time AARP had a list of the best places to retire. My Girlfriend and I Just go driving sometimes as far as 500+ miles round trip. This one time I got their list of places to live and went to one and took a look. I don't own enough Guns to live there. Because of that trip I quit AARP for about 5 years. That's a true story.

Just say no to aarp. I return all their propaganda in their no postage due envelopes. They have to pay the postage when it's returned!:neener::neener:

Exactly. Why should you have to recycle their trash at your expense?

I wondered why AARP told everyone to love Obamacare
When the guberment cancelled my Medicare Suppliment Insurance---I get a letter from friggin AARP telling me that they have signed me up for their insurance & RX policy
I WOULD NOT LAST LONG HERE IF I TOLD YOU WHAT I SAID TO THEM.
