Non-Targets That Become Targets

I really like old out-dated, empty, 100 pound LP tanks. man-sized, good for handguns as well as long range rifle work. cut off the bottom & hang them up, sounds like a bell when hit. good idea to shoot holes in them before cutting on them. A.J.

Also, dead light bulbs (where cleanup is not an issue)
Unless it's your own property, clean up is ALWAYS an issue. Too many shooting spots have gotten closed down. Always take out more than you brought in.

Apple, lettuce, pumpkins... My daughter's sidewalk chalk... Cans of Ravioli... Anything that makes a mess or makes us old guys giggle..

Old computers should get retired by 12 gauge...

"Go ahead.. blue screen again."

Ketchup and Mustard Packets are a lot of fun.

We tore up a dozen eggs with a 17HMR last weekend. You couldn't help but laugh after each shot! :)

I work for Wal-Mart and i always go for the old BIG signs we take down that hang in the store. After easter last year at the range it was funny I was told i was not right because one of the big sheets of cardboard had some kids on it, at the end of the day there was almost nothing left of the kids and that was not all from me.

When I bring the big signs in "I usualy have quite a few" I usualy end up with a free box of ammo from the range owner he says sales almost 2x for ammo when i bring in the signs.

when I take the grandkids, we use shotgun clays. A box of them and I will still have about a fourth of a box left.

1 gallon milk/water jugs filled with wet newspaper. Takes time to make, but fun to see the exit holes

Cinder blocks, CDs, broken Christmas ornaments (I have a pile of 'em, just waiting for the snow to go away a little), stuffed animals the kids have out grown (my stepson has the head of a stuffed tiger mounted on his wall he "killed" with my .22) clay pigeons, steel plates, paper plates, wood scraps and just about anything else I feel like hauling to and from the range. Oh, and regular old paper targets are ok too.

Mostly balloons because they let you know when you shot them.

hunks of scrap steel as well. Its good to recycle.

I use paintballs as well when I want to add some color to my shots.

Once I drew playing cards on to cardboard and played poker at 25ish yards, open sights with .22's. The hard part was telling what card you were shooting because I'm a terrible artist.

I work at a paint and body shop, so I get a lot of car windows/windshields, other car parts, doors fenders. (Usually put the windows over some kind of tarp for easy clean up) Anything laying around my garage that is really dusty and I figure serves no real purpose.

This thread is what plinking is all about to ME! Paper targets are OK, but this kinda stuff is the shizz!

I like the hard foam practice golf balls for swingers
and/or golf ball races w/ 22s (extra points for longest hops, bonus points for highest hop)
and no point in putting the 15 oz plastic soft drink bottles in the trash can (after drinking contents), until after you run a little revolver DA practice on them

but... come dandelion season, 22 rimfire at 60 yards or 17 HMR at 100 yards, no targets to carry and no pickup/cleanup req'd, as "green" as it gets

summertime grasshopper hunts, pretty much the same (you may not fill your tag limit, but sure to bag a few, if you don't rush 'em before they bleed out)

color me lazy

scrap post material, cut down some 6x6 4x4 2x2 :) paint --> make dance. Likes when shooting- rolling -jumping targets.

15¢ cans of tomato paste. cheap, about 2 inches across, and explode in a spectacular bright red when hit with a holopoint.

We collect and use the old political signs that you stick into the ground. After you shoot the original sign, you can attach other targets to the signs.
