10MM Loads??

Just got a 10MM-New to loading that caliber-any hints/favorite loads out there. I carry only factory loads. So what do you load?? Bill..:)
 
Congrats on your purchase. Longshot and #9 are some of the best powders for my use when loading at the upper end. BlueDot will get your attention with the muzzle flash and performs well.
I've use TiteGroup and even Universal with great results when loading Berry's plated bullets.
 
Blue dot is my go to, 800X works very well too but doesn't meter as well

Thanks Glock20. What bullet weight do you prefer-for target+for SD duplication?? Thanks in advance..Bill..
 
For range work and general plinking I like #7 and Silhouette with 180gr Zero Brand and MG JHP. For high performance and high velocity it's hard to beat Longshot. Blue Dot will get you there as well, but it has a whole lot of flash and doesn't do all that great with low end loads. 800-X just flat out sucks as far as metering goes. If you don't mind weighing each charge it's a goodin.
 
billybob44 - For SD I prefer 180gr XTP's loaded either with #9 or Longshot. For target practice, 180gr Berry's plated FP and 155 - 180gr Montana Gold JHP's are relatively inexpensive and very accurate.
I have a Lone Wolf barrel where I've been testing LSWC, so far they seam to be pretty good, but still need to tweak the load a bit more.

As a few others have mentioned, 800x works great in 10mm, but doesn't meter too well, so each round (in my opinion) must be hand weighed. I didn't see any advantage to 800x over LS or #9.
 
I have been running the published "max loads" for 180g and 200g XTP's over AA #9 with good results for the woods, self defense and hunting. These are pretty potent without being excessive. For target practice, I just use jacketed data "starting loads" for 165g plated bullets over Titegroup or W231.
 
I have mentioned this several times before on a similar thread, but I was able to purchase the first Colt Delta Elite that hit the market back in the early 80's and have put many rounds thru it since then. I have found that Blue Dot and a hard cast 175 or 180 gr lead bullet to be the best combination for my 10mm. Gold luck and good shooting with yours! :)
 
I don't load for the 10mm but a shooting buddy does. He tried a bunch of powders and settled on Longshot as his favorite. He loads a 180gr bullet mostly...
 
Anyone know where to get 10mm LSWC loads from? I have a MBC 180gr button (SWC).... I have w231, titegroup, bullseye.... I would ask for a specific recipe but then i wouldn't know how to look up the information going forward....but a specific mild recipe would be great too! I have a lyman book but it's no in there... Accurate paid Lee good money to be in every lead load they have-- guess i'll need to get AA if im going to continue loading lead.

For the most part those powders are too fast for loading the 10mm with jacketed bullets but I'm not sure about lead bullets. You will need to generate enough pressure to reliable move the slide so you really can't download the ammo too much to prevent leading.

Sorry I really wasn't helpful, just thinking out loud I guess..
 
I shoot mostly 180's and 200's. My powder is normally AA7, or Blue Dot for plinkers or general shooting.

For power, I go to 800x but then again, I seem to be able to meter it well with my uniflow and my pro2000.
 
Hey guys don't forget about Power Pistol. I use it for my 180 gr TC lead bullets and Longshot for my jacketed 180 gr bullets. Power Pistol had lead bullet loading data and has a nice muzzle flash to boot if you are into that.
 
My most accurate loads for the G20 and G29 are using Accurate #9 powder and Hornady 155, 180, and 200gr XTP bullets.

Missouri Bullet Company "Steeler" 200gr TCFP

Don't forget that MBC has the .401 200gr TCFP BHN-18 on their website.

Brad is a 10mm shooter and he really likes this bullet.

I have made a few loads with Montana Gold 165gr. FN, with A-A #9 powder. A few with Nosler (Seconds) 180gr. HP, with Blue Dot, and some with IMR-800X. Also some with Montana Gold 180gr. HP, with IMR-800X.
Bad news is: I haven't been able to get out and "Test" them yet.

You'll do fine-just with different powders:
A-A #7
A-A #9
Blue Dot
LongShot
IMR-800X
From the information that I have received, these are some of the best powder choices for the 10MM-180gr. loads. Bill.

I went out to fire some test loads for my 44 Mag Carbine. It was 10 degrees with 20 mph wind, 6 inches of snow on the ground.

Only shot 25 rounds, but succeeded in proofing my new loads. When you live in this climate, you just have to endure. ;)

I'm a big 10mm fan - G20, G29, SW 610, Olympic Arms 10mm AR-15 carbine.

Despite the above commentaries, 10mm is a high pressure load but you certain can load it 10mm lite or 10mm hot. As long as you stay within the stated manufacturers' ranges, you easily cycle your slide. The below recipes have cycled my 10mm handguns with Wolff extra power recoil springs.

Here my favorite softball and warm loads:


10MM LOADS - 180 GR OAL = 1.260"
AA # 7 - RANIER 10.7 GR RAN 180 MID PWR WARM

TITEGROUP - MY PET: 4.8 GR TG 180 RANIER - GOOD TARGET LOAD

W231 - MY PET: 4.7 W231 850 FPS

POWER PISTOL - 8.6 GRAINS FMJ WARM

LONGSHOT - 9.5 GRAINS REBECCA'S JHP PET (G20 6" KKM BARREL- 15 YDS ACC)

CLAYS - 3.7 gr. BERRY'S 1.255 OAL ( 900 fps)

10MM LOADS - 200 GR

AA # 7 - MY PET: 10.4/ RANIER G20 2IN/25 YD (16/20)

POWER PISTOL - FMJ 7.5 PP RANIER, 1,145 FPS WARM

TITEGROUP - MY PET: 5.3 TG RAN 610 2/25YD

Are some really nice medium burning powders that have lower pressure relatively and get strong velocities if you want to work up some load to replicate the 175 grain Winchester Silvertip SD loadings.
