I have a Ruger LCP, & it shoots really great, considering it's size & rudimentary sights, functions 100%, too. But still, I would like better sights.

I agree, I got used to the trigger, but not the sights. And it's a shame because they are capable of decent accuracy.

Kahr P380. Leaves the rest behind.

Yep, pricey but you get what you paid for with Kahr.

The pocket 380 pistols are easy to carry, but I rented a P3At and found out I wanted nothing further to do one because of the discomfort -- no fun, at all. By contrast, I can shoot +P in my 642 quite comfortably.

In a 380, the Bersa Thunder is a sweetheart.

Bersa Thunder .380. If I should ever win the lottery I would switch to a Beretta Model 84.

depends on what you want it for
"derringer duty", LCP a good choice

CCW, might ought think of some with a tad more size/weight more shootable

Sig 232, Walther PPK, Colt Gov'mt, Bersa, even a Browning BDA, that sort of thing
but the $400 hurdle is tough on that, other than Bersas

I went with the P3AT because thats what I have,If I was going to use one as a primary I would have chosen other probabaly a walther. But for me its a pocket gun only and not a primary. What it is is cheap, light dependable and reasonably accurate.
And not a great loss if something happens to it.

Ive got a hi-point CF380 and it does the job just fine, that being said its not the kind of pistol you'd have wet dreams about either.

Love my Ruger LCP. It is my always (and believe me when I say ALWAYS) 'friend' either alone or with a bigger 'brother'. Mine has been 100% reliable, easy to shoot well, more accurate than it should be, EASY to conceal no matter how you dress, so light you NEVER notice it and a great comfort to just 'always be there'.

I just saw on the Taurus website last night that they have a .380 in a 15+1 capacity. Anyone have any info on this? Because I'm looking for a 'Rat' gun(.380's bigger than other mouse guns, so I figured a new name was in order), for my dad who can't handle much recoil and with a capacity on-par with a standard sized Auto would really make his day, methinks.

I voted for the kel-tec.
I have one and I love it, so screw the ruger.:neener:
The S&W is a very fine gun and I have never shot one, so can't choose that one. The other ones are steel and heavy so I don't see a pocket gun there.:banghead:
Lots of Sig's picked. I have two Sigs. one in 9mm and one is a 45. LOVE THEM:cool:.
But to carry this in your pocket is not going to be easy as you don't want to carry it cocked and locked in your pocket.:( If you put it on your belt you might as well find and carry a 38 or 9mm. So there.:what:

Good .380

I know it's above the price stated but I have never had as much fun shooting a .380 as I have with my Sig 238. I put a set of Larry Davidson's Horned Lizard grips on it and it looks great carries great and shoots great.

Other, Sig Sauer P238

I went down this same road not to long ago. I went to all the stores and played with them all. I set out to buy a Ruger LCP, but ended up buying a Sig Sauer Custom Shop P238. The quality is amazing, thats the number one reason I bought it. Plus I like the 1911 platform. The sights are great, they actually have nuclear rocks in them, not all P238's have the SIGLITE Night Sights on them, it takes like 50 years for them to quit working from what I have been told. The Custom Sig is all dehorned for quicker draw. Plus the sights are adjustable on the P238. In my opinion the Sig P238 is better than the Colt Mustang, they are different, just like many makers of 1911's have different models. If I had to choose from your list, I would get the Ruger LCP, very reliable as all Ruger's are. The LCP is just as good as the others on your list in my opinion, but at a lesser price.

Go try them all and see what fits you best, then buy it. I have seen the lower end Sig P238's at gun shows for $450.00. Good luck!

Clint

I chose other with my vote going for the P238. I'm owned a few pocket 380s and none of them have the trigger, low recoil, sights or feel of the P238.

Ruger LCP, reliable, compact, priced below $300, lightweight and accurate enough for close up personal defense. I carry it all the time, even if I'm carrying a larger caliber.

Under $400? LCP.

If it were a bit more, I'd go for the Sig 238, real night sights, a slide that locks back, and a soft recoiling gun. It's actually fun to shoot at the range.

For a lot more, but tiny, Seecamp. Great quality, no fun to shoot.

I voted lcp...I just got a used LCP pre-recall and it eats everything i fed it and was accurate at 10yards. I had a TCP a year ago which i purchased new and it was a jam-o-matic!

I voted for the S&W bodygaurd. I purchased two of them and the one has been great. The other one is for sale and new in the box if anyone is interested.

Bill was a mentor and missed.

BTW Bersa Thunder .380
