I've been bitten by the 1911 bug again, this time for a carry version. I've settled in on the Dan Wesson CBOB. However, I want one that says "Classic" on the side, nothing else. The ones I've seen for sale say "Classic" with a little "DW" to the left of it. Why is this? Different year with different marking? Blem? I have looked everywhere including the Dan Wesson subforum over at 1911 and have scoured google to no avail. Any help?????

IIRC the CBOBs made in 2009 and after are the ones without the DW. Earlier models had them. Mine which is an 2005/2006 model has it.

They are harder to come by because about this time DW sort of blew up in terms of popularity and sales. The price point has sky rocketed over the past 2 years.

I paid less than $800 for mine LNIB now you cannot find one used for less than $1200 most of the time. New 2011 production CBOBs are going for $1350+ if you can find one.

yes it is a CBOB and it is stainless. I can't find one with just the "Classic" marking on the side, but have found two with the "DW" next to it. Any difference between the two besides the marking? Is $1395 a fair price now?

In todays terms it is about right too high IMHO but that is what people are getting for them.

CBOB

IMO you're looking for a CBOB at the wrong time. They're a fine pistol; I have one. They have garnered lots of attention recently after being discontinued. For that money, lots of competition around.
