A Gun Under The Pillow

I'd never sleep with a gun under my pillow, i'd never find it again. I toss and turn way too much, the nightstand seems to make more sense.

I have, only once.

My cousin and I met up with a coworker of his, the coworkers son and one of the coworkers friends on a deer hunt in Colorado. Our first night in state the coworker offered to share their accommodations with us for the night, witch turned out to be an old run down farm house out in the country. :uhoh:

I had never met any of these three before but they all seemed "OK". Anyway during supper in conversation the question arose why the friend wasn't hunting like the rest of use, his reply was "because I'm a convicted felon".

When me and my cousin retired to our cots in a separate side room I slipped my G20 into my pillow case under my pillow. Before we went to sleep he asked if I "had it close", I replied "don't expect me to protect you because you left your 45 at home".

I do usually have one under a pillow, however I have a heavy pillow on top of it and the pillow I use is on top of that. I have memory foam mattress and it forms to the holstered .38 it stays where it lays all the time.

I have also had two thinner memory foam pillows in a larger pillow case and firearm slipped neatly inside between them.

Main defense gun however is a Mossberg 500 20 Guage.

I also like the item in picture below, however there web site does not work anymore. Could be easily made though. I would probably alter it to actually slide in pillow case with Firearm and flash light being accessable from open end of pillow case.

They sold these for like $49.95 I always liked the idea, but never got one?? I dont think they make them anymore???

I used to have a gunvault 4 button safe on my nightstand with fully loaded glock 22, 3 extra mags and a S&W .44 magnum loaded and 2 speed loaders for it, and a remington 1100 with 3" 00 buck in the corner by my bed, and a safe full of loaded guns in my walk in closet, and a deadbolt on my bedroom door. I'm a little less "paranoid" now and just have my .357 in a drawer under my bed. I still like my bedroom deadbolt because I think it would buy me a little extra time. I understand it could still be kicked down, but I'm confident I would be awake and ready by then.

I did kept my first pistol under my pillow when I was a teenager. This was to keep others from gaining possession of it since I didn't yet own a safe. It was holstered and not a safety concern.

I've kept one next to my pillow ever since. It is also holstered and not a safety concern. I've never owned a night stand. It has been knocked off the bed onto the floor once in the last 30 years. I was awake when it happened.
