a friend of mine once told me:
"your indecisiveness will be your downfall"

and this week that statement came to fruition.

went to my local gun shop tuesday just looking around and saw a two tone bersa thunder 380 in 90-95% condition for 160 bucks!

and what did i do??? i said to myself "i'll go home and think it over." went back today with every intention to buy it and it was gone. there was another in its place but it was marked up to 210 bucks and was not in as good of shape.

sorry for the complaining but i just needed to get some closure!

live and learn, next time i see a gun that i want for a steal i'll go ahead and snatch it on up!

"I'll go home and think it over" is not indecisiveness, it's using sound judgement. That gun may have been a good buy, but for all you know it may have ended up being a real dud. You took the time to think it through and avoided buying on impulse (which would be a far greater problem). Ya did good. There will be other guns!

Patience is virtual. There's a gadzillon handguns out there. There're other fishes in the sea.

Don't be too hard on yourself! They say patience is a virtue. Like me, I've got all of the patience I was born with............. I've never used any!! Possibly there'll be a better one next time you look.

Don't feel too bad about that, I did essentially the same thing when I was looking for a Ruger LCP. Took a day thinking about it, went back and it was gone. A week later they had some more in the store and the price was down $25 to boot. So sometimes missing out on a deal isn't all bad.

I know how you feel, as I use to be that way too, especially at gunshows. Missed out on a super nice S&W Model 1000S Super Skeet shotgun that was LNIB; even had a extra 28" barrel for hunting. Lots of custom features and a very limited number made; a great set up for the dedicated skeet shooter. I wanted to do some research on it, thinking it would still be there in 2 weeks at the next show. Wrong-someone bought it at the show later that day and I haven't seen another one like it since.

Nowadays when I see something I want at the LGS, I put it on layaway. That way if I decide against getting it later, I at least had the opportunity to do some research and think it over before making my decision.

At a gun show a few years ago, I saw a Savage 99 for $375 asking price, fiddled around and decided to go back, just in time to see someone else grab it and fork over his money. But spending that, at that time, meant my other bills would have had to be paid late, too.

Been there, done that :banghead:

As they say, he who hesitates is lost.

The good news is that there will be others.

well there are two ways of looking at this

1. The early bird gets the worm

or my favorite

2. The second mouse gets the cheese

You could have missed out or you might run into something better.

Interesting that the majority of us believe you did the right thing by waiting... and this from a bunch of gun-nuts. I look at it from the other side. How many times have I bought something on a whim when I'd have been better served by saving my money.

One man's indecisiveness is another man's wisdom or temperance.

prudence

Prudence pays off in the long run in my experience. For the most part "you get what you pay for", and once in awhile you get the "short end"!

Years ago, saw a Auto Ordnance 1927 Thompson (pre-Kahr) Deluxe on the used rack for $550. Really wanted one but decided to think about it for a day. Well, guess who still doesn't have a Thompson now...

If it's really that good of a deal, I figure I'll buy it and flip it if I decide I don't like it :D

+1 on people recommending 9x18 ComBloc guns over the Bersa. I shot a Bersa Thunder .380 side-by-side with my Makarov and Polish P-64. Some people complain about the P-64's trigger even after respringing but it's nowhere near as bad as that Bersa. The damn trigger just won't BREAK. You keep pulling and pulling, expecting it to break, and you start losing strength because you've pulled too far.

Stop kicking yourself and buy a Polish P-64 and respring it. Better gun for less money. It's smaller than the Bersa, the exact same weight, fires a more powerful round, and has a better trigger. Only difference is it has 1 less round capacity (7 versus 8). There's also various other fine 9x18 pistols out there. The Bulgarian Makarov is a good choice. More compact than the CZ-82 (and exact same size as the Bersa), good trigger, and holds 8 rounds. The CZ-82 is the king of ammo capacity, but also heavy. And there's the PA-63, which is lightweight due to an alloy frame, resprings to a nice 13-pound double action trigger pull, and holds 8 rounds. Overall the 9x18 pistols are much higher quality and fire a more powerful, less expensive round. Pocket .380's are hit and miss, but military-issue 9x18's are a pretty sure thing.

Well, saw a Swede carbine, sporterized, drilled and tapped, but otherwise beautiful for $250, and it was gone the next day...

There was probably a reason it was only 150 bucks. Probably wouldn't feed or eject, jams open before mag is empty, sights fall off, keyholes at 15 feet.

Feel better now? :)

Been there and done that too....With that said I wouldn't lose ANY sleep over a Bersa!

I'll 3rd the recommendation of one of the 9X18 Mil Surps (CZ82, Makarov or P64) over the Bersa, every day of the week.

usually thinking it through is great advice, we don't have "crystal balls" to see the future.
no need to beat yourself up, I'm black & blue from self-inflicted beatings

How about a minty SIG P210 in wood presentation case for $895 :banghead:

How about a NIB Beretta 84FS nickel plated with wood grips for $369....Several years ago of course.

I paid substantially more a week later. :banghead:
