There's these two documentaries on SPIKE TV called MANswers and Deadliest Warrior, and they make ridiculous mistakes all the time, but in a recent episode, "What's the biggest handgun you can buy?", they called a 357 Magnum a 357 SuperMag when it was a standard 357, and they said it fires bullets 1.5 inches long. Those must have great sectional density!

Also, the answer was the 500 Magnum, which is not the biggest handgun. The Zeliska is. And there are many huge old blackpowder handguns, handcannons, etc.

On the documentary Deadliest Warrior, they frequently have inane and illogical methods of determining which weapon is "better" and use different tests for different weapons. These tests usually consist of shooting a gelatin dummy or a pig while screaming "Awesome!" and laughing.

On the whole, these shows are an offense to your intelligence, they are not academic or well-researched, and nothing on them could ever be published in any peer-reviewed journal.

Do not take firearms facts from these shows.

First of all, they're hardly documentaries. They're entertainment. And yes, they're wrong a lot. But it's SPIKE, not the history channel. Personally, I don't watch either. Too much "ain't that WILD?!?" kind of attitude, not enough interesting content.

You can't insult the intelligence of anyone watching MANswers over incorrect information.

No one thinks these shows are documentaries. They're just infotainment, and pretty low on info at that.

It's ridiculous. The sniper match was unfair and silly, the grenade test was performed on a washing machine for one grenade and in a room for the other, firearm reliability does not play a factor, neither does...

These shows are terrible!

I think they need to do more research.

I think they need to do more research.

Maybe you should write to the network. I don't think anyone here is going to be able to do much about it.

... And I certainly doubt anyone here is going to disagree with your assessment....?

We could write the network. But I have written authors, etc, before, and they generally do not respond.

I'm just posting this so that anyone who is promised to be told a firearms fact at the start of the show should just change the channel and Google it.

Considering that the MANswers question was "What's the biggest handgun YOU can buy", and not "What's the biggest handgun in the world", I think .500 S&W as an answer is acceptable.

No. Go to Pfiefer's website. Zeliska is listed. It's expensive, but you can buy it.

Unacceptable.
