Rep George Nethercutt (R-Spokane, WA) is running against Sen Patty "Osama Mama" Murray for one of WA's Senate seats. Rep Nethercutt's campaign sight doesn't say anything about gun rights issues, so I checked out his Congressional web page. It does (badly) need updating, but it does have some good position quotes, the most critical of which is:
"The Second Amendment clearly permits citizens to keep and bear arms and this basic right is too easily forgotten by some legislators. "

Rep. Nethercutt earns an A- from the GOA. Sen Murray earns an F.

Despite a huge fund raising advantage and the Seattle media support for Murray, Rep Nethercutt is almost in a statistical dead heat right now.

I know where I'm going to send some of my political $. Sounds to me like a better investment than W's campaign.

I really would like her to lose badly. Can't stand to see her on TV anymore.

I did send Nethercutt an email telling him that the Second Amendment section of his page needed updating...Clinton is no longer President.

For those who don't know, George Nethercutt is the guy who defeated then-Speaker of the House Tom Foley in 1994. First time a sitting Speaker had been beaten in a long time, so he's not to be underestimated.

Isn't Nethercutt the Congressman who made some sort of promise to only serve N terms and no more? I don't recall what N was, but it was a small number. What happened with that promise? Has he gotten used to feeding at the public trough and can't stop?

I will agree, almost anything would be better than Murray.

N was 6 or 8 years, IIRC, and he has gone beyond it. I think the issue was brought up when he last ran for re-election, and I'd expect Murray to bring it up again.

I think the DNC is worried about Murray, since what they thought would be a safe seat now isn't looking so safe. Add to that all the Democrat Senators from the south (SC, GA, FL, LA, and I think Edwards from NC) retiring, and now Thune running against Daschle in SD (that'll be a grudge match of epic proportions-you know W wants Daschle gone) and their #s in the Senate are not looking good. So I think they're getting seriously antsy.

Maria Cantwell is no great shakes on the 2A either (another F from GOA), but Cantwell for WA senior Senator has a nice ring to it!

As far as I am concerned, Maria Cantwell has an even greater strike against her than an F rating.

She made her fortune with Real Networks.
You know, the makers of the buggy, spyware laden, POS Real Player.
Real Player is a work of Satan.

She made her fortune with Real Networks.
And ran for Senate on it, and THEN it turned out that it wasn't there anymore, due to Clinton's little recession. "Ooopsie, I can't repay all those loans."

Equally important with getting rid of Murray is getting rid of "Ciongressman-for-Life" "Baghdad Jim" McDermott..:barf:
Maybe more important.

I put McDermott in the same category as Bernie Sanders (Socialist-VT). They're so far out there that they're self-marginalizing. The folks in Seattle who vote for McDerrmott apparently like his far-left positions, pronouncements, and denunciations more than they like having a Congressman who is actually effective at getting things done. Which is fine with me.

Cantwell is another target for another election. Right now, the goal is getting rid of Murray, and with Nethercutt, we just might be able to do that.
