Not even close in my case. My most expensive firearm is only around $1K or so. Most are far less than that. 'Course, I know a guy who drives a car he got for $500, so it isn't out of the question.

LOL. My last one was green too but it wasnt as good a deal as this one, it was 4 years older, 2WD and cost me $1000. It was down to four cylinders at the end there, and wouldnt go up over the mountains so I had to retire it. :)

I traded a Hi-Point 9mm carbine and 500rds of ammo for a 91 Jeep wrangler. Had to do some normal work to it, but the seller believes they got the better deal.

yes
first generation Colt, never fired new in box and have box and original shipping papers from colt
SAA 240XXX 38/40 short barrel case hardened frame blue wheel and barrel
have ammo and really want to shoot it but common sense says no

have a 2008 silverado and bride has a vette C5 black on black convertable

I voted yes but I'm not sure. I don't drive much since I retired. I bought a new 2000 Toyota Excel. It has 43,000 miles on it, most of that from when I still worked. At a couple of thousand miles a year buying a new one is a waste of money. Its not about having an expensive gun so much as a cheap car.

Not currently but I have in the past with some of my Class 3 belt feds.

Wow. After seeing pictures of your shotgun I am going to go out on a limb here and assume you do not drive a Honda Civic.

My car is an 88 Nissan Pathfinder with 265,000 miles. I have no idea what it is "worth", but I can imagine it is not much.
My most expensive gun is my Walther P88 which I paid $1000 for used, 8 yrs ago. I would imagine the Walther is worth more than my car.

When my custom varmint rifle built on a Bat HR action is finished next month and I add the Nightforce scope it will be worth more than my Wife's car but not my truck. Some time you need to prioritize

Not currently but I used to. I drove a 1990 ford ranger into the ground, blew about as much steam out of the tail pipe as it did exhaust by time I was done with it. Wrecked, shot, rusted and broken it went till 230k. When I sold it for $300 it still ran.

Yes and no. My '05 F-150 Lariat, no. My beat-to-heck '96 F-150, yes. Might be worth a grand if someone really wanted the 351 from it. I've got a couple 1911's worth more than that.

I don't think so!!! Both of my vehicles are paid for and are far from new, but they're still worth some money. I have a '98 Jeep Wrangler (4.0L) bought in '01 with 14k on the odometer. It's now at 75k and is supposedly worth about $7,000 (private party sale in my state). I also have an '02 Audi Allroad bought in '05 with 35k on the odometer. It's now at 84k and is supposedly worth about $10,000 (private party sale in my state). Some of my custom rifles and optics are approaching the cost of the Jeep but definitely do not exceed it.

I have no wish to replace either vehicle. My Audi is still a better car than most $30,000 new cars being produced today. My Jeep is an off-road beast and my two dogs have no intention of parting with it.

Value of Gun vs Vehicle

I currently have a 2005 Toyota Tundra, all the bells, whistles and gizmos that you more often than not don't need. Several months ago while visiting my favorite Gun shop I did offer to trade my truck for one single rifle which was promptly rejected by owner.
